Boats going to conquest to update the newer style fiberglassed in front step. I was going to replace front stereo remote that’s working, just looks like shit all yellow. Doesn’t look like they make these remotes anymore which I have 3 (front, drivers helm, and rear). Are there any remotes that are compatible with a sony head unit to replace this faded remote.

Yesssir you have a few options depending on the head unit.

Do you have a pic of that or the model number?

Another option imho would be to fill those holes while dealing with Conquest, then look into a model with a wireless remote. I have the Fusion Apollo in my boat and the remotes are double sided taped onto the hull which means never have to deal with a hole.

That’s easy for the front as I’m already considering covering the big hose cover and have them install newer wash system that plugs in since they are spraying that area. But still have two other remotes to deal with.

I have a different Sony remote "drilled" into the transom of my boat. It yellowed and crazed as well, and was discontinued. I found a couple on ebay, used but looked new. I bought them both, too buy me quite a few years.

So it’s a Sony MEX-M70BT and the most modern remote solution that is still compatible is the Sony RM-X11M. Unfortunately it’s also discontinued but you could prob find them.

Assuming you do, the installation would involve some pretty substantial holes. Take a look at the specs:

This is def the most simple, cost effective solution.

FYI the remote you’re looking for is from CPS Products.

Manufacturer Part Number: SRC1W

Product Name: Remote Control Commander Key Pad

Thx for the info, already discontinued, that’s not good lol. That’s a big hole. I was hoping to find something similar to the holes I have. Does the CPS remote connect with an RCA connection like the exact looking Sony remote does. I’ve been looking for both on eBay but nothing. Thx again.

I got hit with an unexpected bill (chose to rebuilt drive) while doing my top end on my 525 as preventative maintance this week. Doing sea Deck after conquests updates front step. Keel beach rash may need to go another year lol.

@THE WIDGE no problem. I enjoy the research. I’m not sure about the connection but SRC1W would be a direct replacement of your remote so plug and play.

Thinking outside the box here; what if you removed and disassembled the remotes you have now? You could then either paint or wrap the case to the color of your liking. That could get you by a few seasons.

Overall that head unit was debuted in 2014 so it’s getting up there in age which means little to no product support. I’d consider setting aside some cash for a new setup. A new single-din head unit with similar functionality wouldn’t cost much and be easy to install. You’d update the looks and have access to much more modern remote options.

How large are the existing holes? Ad how far spread apart are they?

Here's mine, it takes a pretty big hole, which, I kinda wasn't in my transom, but, we've had zillions of hours of enjoyment listening to music, controlled by that little gadget out floating, as well as "backed up to the beach" like we do it in Orygun, as opposed to front beaching

To the OP, looking on ebay under "marine wired remote", looks like Kicker and a number of other brands have plenty of styles. Maybe it's time to get a new head unit of a different brand. I think I'll likely go that route, as I'd like to go bluetooth

How do you like the fusion radio. Do you have the 770 or the 670. I like that the remotes are BT and not wired and no holes. Have the remotes held up with the double sided tape. I think I’m leaning that way as I need to make a decision shortly about covering front holes since they are working in that area.

I have the 770 and I absolutely love it, we have a remote base on her inflatable island deal as well and she clips the remote out of the boat onto it. I however seldom use the remote except the one by the throttle while driving as i use my phone via the Fusion-Link. That app is amazing and makes it the best remote you can use as it’s everything for the headunit. Google image search Fusion-link app and look but it’s literally the whole headunit. We don’t touch the stereo but to turn on and off.

If you decide you really want to go that way, there’s a few pieces to order when you do, to make install cake as the physical dimensions are a little smaller than a regular single din, even tho it looks way bigger once installed.

Thx. I was considering the 670, but after watching a video of there Apollo series, the 770 w Wi-Fi is probably worth a few extra bucks. Do you have one of the wireless remotes? If so do you know the length from side to side to see if it would cover my existing holes.

This is a Sony, assuming screws in my Cps unit are the same it’s 2 1/4”, the fusion is approx 3” in diameter which should cover my holes. Going to have conquest patch front when doing step, leave rear intact for now, and hopefully these will cover holes in drivers area until I can take it to Saleen or someone to repair holes. Don’t have as much faith in matching gel colors after getting off the phone with conquest a min ago. Saw some get color matching at Saleen last week and was impressed

JP at Adrenaline installed a new Apollo 770 head unit, Fosgate mids, and wireless remotes. Love the system and these remotes. Old stuff went to trash. I was very happy with JP and highly recommend. Very reasonable and did a nice job tuning it with my existing amps and base speakers

Very happy w head unit, I replaced my Mids w fosgates and they sound amazing. Again, JP could have easily told me amps needed to be replaced based on age, but he tested them, put load on both of them, and said they are still working great.

You’re using the app? As you get used to the headunit you’ll keep finding little things about it that make it even better as well.

School me on why you guy aren't just using your phones, Bluetooth connected to an amp or head unit?

Gotta be a reason you're not doing that?

For me it’s to cover the hole from the existing wired in remote on drivers side. I had conquest glass in the front remote holes when I had them gladding in my new front step. I did not replace that remote
