A Syrian refugee, gay rights activist, Governor (gun control activist) are a few that will be sitting in the Presidents box with Michelle Obama tomorrow night. What a bunch of backslapping bullshit this is going to be. :grumble:

The White House says President Barack Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday night will be non-traditional.

What that means: Obama will be talking about himself, not asking Congress for a long list of items he knows he'll never get.

Obama will deliver his final State of the Union address a week after bypassing Congress by using his executive authority to expand gun rules. He could use the speech to highlight other issues on his agenda that he'll address without the help of Congress, like Guantanamo Bay, echoing previous executive actions on everything from immigration, carbon dioxide emissions and re-starting diplomatic relationship with Cuba.

This is the last time we'll have to hear from the worst ever, elected by the stupidest ever......................................I hope! :thumbsup

I don't have a stable enough stomach or ability to control my blood pressure in order to watch and hear the lies........:thumbsdown

There is no way I could endure his garbage for one second.

I read that there will also be an empty seat in the box to represent the "victims of gun violence"...

I'm curious about what he'll say.

Regardless of what you see or hear, I'm the best ever and don't forget the idiot's favorite line................we still have more work to do! :rotflmao:

The only work left to do is put you down in the history books as the worst ever and start the process of digging out of the mess you and the morons that elected you created.

I'm curious about what he'll say.

I'll cliff note it for ya:

The economy is recovering well (even though 92 million are out of the labor force, highest of all time)

We have a tough road against ISIS (Even though he was arming and supplying them, and if we hadn't of worked against Assad early on they wouldn't be a problem, nor would the refugees)

A few million people that never had insurance now do (Even though dozens of millions have seen their rates skyrocket and have now surpassed a mortgage or rent for many)

Hmmmmm what else

:D

He's got a 50/50 chance that no one sitting near him will complain about what he says . True to form, he has always surrounded himself with people who have little grasp of actual working life, but always have a word or two about 'their world' and how everyone should understand them.

I'd say "pigs enjoy their own mud", but I don't want to offend any Muslims, so I'll just say; "pigs enjoy mud of all kinds" .............

According to the constitution it should be. :eek

I guess GW Bush didn't give one in 2009 before Obama took office, looks like the outgoing president never gives one before the inauguration, and the President Elect doesn't give one after taking office either until the following year....

You gotta remember i've only been voting long enough for one presidential change in the white house ya old fart :p

Well I looked it up, and once again you are right and I was wrong.

Article II, Section 3 of the constitution says;

"He shall from time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient."

Before the advent of radio and television, they were given in writing. But you are correct in the sense that the outgoing president has the right to do so as the responsibility of reporting the State of the Union formally belongs to the president who held office during the past year. However, the last outgoing president to do so was Jimmy Carter and he delivered it in writing.

Newly elected presidents have given a speech in their first year but it is technically and officially not a "state of the union" as that responsibility belongs to the president who held office during the prior year, so I have to admit, you are correct and he has a right to give a final "State of the Union" speech.

And given Obama's history, he probably will.

OK, second to last State of the Union. Things ARE looking up.

Seriously, so many of you have played the poor-me-victim bullshit do death. Many of the folks you have elected have chosen to sit on the sidelines with their thumb up their ass but still cry about not getting an MVP trophy. It's played out.

If you choose not to act, someone will act in a way that is likely not in your best interest. This was alluded to in the gun debate. With the probability of all the necessary votes, the Repubs never stepped up with meaningful legislation.

I want more for our Country, I'd like to think you do too.

The only truly meaningful legislation the R's or D's could have passed to this point, would be a bill that forced current laws on the books to be dutifully enforced. We have more than adequate laws to solve major issues like immigration, illegal immigration, and gun rights. They just are not enforced, many times by orders from higher government.

Throw in the coverup/stonewalling of wrongdoing within the government itself, the IRS and Lois Lerner being a prime example, and it's easy to see we can't, or better won't insist on rules being adhered to that would make more legislation unnecessary.

Yeah kind of a grey area there, hell it's been 8 years that several thousand cans of beer, probably 100+ bottles of Scotch or Bourbon, and a few dozen bottles of wine ago.... :p

This will be a speech about electing the next Democrat president (Clinton) and continuing the same policies. Nothing more or less.

The DNC will make sure he kicks off the election year by politicking for their candidate.

When President Obama took office, the American economy was in a death spiral: the worst economic crisis in 60 years, ongoing wars in two foreign countries costing Americans trillions of dollars, the lives of 3,000 American soldiers, 10,000 disabled veterans and up to 100,000 non-combatant deaths; a huge budget deficit, and the colossal, self-induced crash of the financial services sector.

Today, the president is accused of a lack of focus in foreign policy. Yet his clear policy resulted in the ending of lengthy wars in two Muslim countries, in favor of opting to use our military resources to equip, train and provide support for indigenous military forces in the two countries to assume the responsibility for defense of their homelands. The president has opted instead to use U.S. airpower and unmanned drones to efficiently eliminate extremist jihadist and Taliban leaders, with much-reduced loss of lives of innocent civilians.

The president?s economic policy (as much as he could get the Congress to pass) has resulted in a revitalized, profitable U.S. automobile industry; revitalized, accelerating housing markets; millions of new jobs; the unemployment rate reduced to pre-2008 levels to a near-normal 5.9 percent, and a new record-high stock market, reflecting dramatic increases in profits by American businesses. How does this equate to the charge of allegedly failed economic policies?

I'm sorry,Chili.Im not buying this.

If any of it is true why am I not feeling it?
Unemployment rate...there may be more people working but they are working at a reduced rate;more minimum wage jobs, less "careers".
Housing market...maybe in used houses?Im not seeing much in new home builds? One thing I know for sure,my industry mimics the construction trades. If they're working and making money,I will too.
Used boat sales are still down and more important to me New boat sales are still in the crapper!
Is it getting better?Ever so slightly.Folks in the industry keep saying they want to see it like it was in 2000-2005,I would be happy to see it where it was in 1995.So far sales are at just above what they were during the gas crisis of the 70s.

He said he'd make our children safe from guns - that's it. Didn't say how he'd do it.

That was an hour of my life I'll never get back.

Much of what you stated is true but it is everything that is wrong with the early-2000's economy.

I guess I could agree with that from a realistic what it did to the future point of view, although I made money hand over fist then.;)
Like I said,I would be happy with 1995 sales.Hell I'd be happy with early 90s sales numbers.

The agreements were already in place to pull out of both Iraq and Afghanistan, he had no choice but to follow the timeline that GWB already had agreed to with those governments or lose immunity for the troops left on the ground....

I'm sorry but tell all the previous stock owners of GM that are holding toilet paper about how profitable the company now is, after being bailed out and then paying off the loans with stock sales that the fed holds on it's balance sheet, and combinations of other government grants that obfuscate the payback and ownership stakes (one of the reasons why the fed audit is constantly blocked, the extent to which they are propping up the economy), anyone would be profitable if the government it taking your debt liability onto it's balance sheets.... Highest amount of people not in the workforce at 92 million, the unemployment "rate" is bullshit when you look at the underlying data... A record high stock market pumped up by insanely low interest rates, it's valuation has little connection to profitability.... You need to look no further than the added 10+ trillion put on the national debt for this recovery.....

Borrow now and make the next generation pay for it....

I watched the entire thing last night.... "Cause it's the right thing to do" (If you watched you'll get it) :p

He looks so drained that i feel he knows just how large of a percentage of the country doesn't believe a thing he says, you can hear it in his words..... That being said he is so incompetent and getting anything done in Washington that I'd almost take him for another term over Hillary :D I'd pray for government gridlock if i was religious......
