This virus is not a massive threat like they want us to believe.

Something does not add up. I think this is a globalist push for the monopolized medical industry, big government and more social programming. Nothing more.

I've been using https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries This was posted by another member but they seem to provide a lot of data. They also have a lot of interesting graphs for each country. China appeared to peak in 8 weeks and then start to flatten and decline in weeks 9 and on based on their "active cases" graph. Most of the info we get in mainstream media never accounts for recoveries , its always just total cases (recovered or not). You can also get a state by state breakdown

According to the chart, that's a 1.1% death rate for the infected in the USA. A major threat?... Uh, not really!

I'd be more worried about being effected by the economy or the new government polices coming into effect than a flu that I have a 1% chance of dying from.

Quality of health care is a HUGE factor as well as Age of population.
By % USA, Austria, Germany and a couple others have a death rate barely over a few % while most are closer to 10%.
The USA should come out of this in much better shape than most of the world. And our dollar is gaining strength against other currencies as well.

I don’t even look at those numbers. Increased testing = increased cases
i look at hospitalizations linked to China virus and deaths.
And Pence said 9 of 10 tests are coming back negative. These things are pointing to this being overblown, and pointing toward a real quarantine for AT RISK people, not the general population since we all have to pay for this shit...

Most can’t pay for this shit, without income coming in.
Very lucky my wife and I both have FT jobs and both have side businesses as well.
Her bakery is closed (we stopped taking orders since getting baking supplies is a PIA) and my consulting group is not taking any new engagements. Those active projects are still moving forward, but internal audit performance improvement projects are limited with working from home almost everywhere. I have 2 projects running right now and 5 team members as of today. By the end of this week, I will have to go down to 1 team members (excluding me). So on Thursday I get to have 4 very difficult conversations.

I understand the impact to the medical system and those needing medical attention regardless of age. However, One interesting thing is all the cases currently in the US add up to less than the total population in the county I live in.... that is such a small number than the entire population... Just one way to frame the numbers reported.

We are using a hammer to remove a splinter in a finger. Bang the finger enough with the hammer and it falls off, thereby eliminating the splinter. But our hearts were in the right place.

Depression will be the next topic that all the idiots will somehow become experts in, sort of like the FB social distance nazis we are seeing. They’ll switch to onion rationing, as TP becomes a thing of the past...

sorry you have to let some folks go. Ugh

thanks
at this point, I am trying to find a way to keep them busy until April 30. I held a brief team meeting today and told them all the status of where we are at and asked them to consider options and we will chat Wednesday. Already had one say he will take a fee reduction. If the others come back with the same, might be able to stretch this out until the end of April when current projects end.

I usually don’t take on engagements May to Sept, so I can enjoy the summer with my family and not work part of the weekends and nights during the week.
