Startboard side header

Just did an oil change over the weekend and I noticed that one side of the header has some heat marking on it. I put it on muffs , started and the side with the heat markings gets hotter then the other side with no heat marks. Im thinking maybe some kind of water
Restriction, any toughts?

Could have debris clogging one of the hoses that feed the header, you need to do a full cooking system check.

Also water pump may be faulty and not supplying enough water at speed. The other thing that can happen on bravos is the hose inside the gimnal housing can leak and draw air while running, or be collapsed at the insert on either end restricing water flow.

Gold color like that is about 500deg F, way too hot.

When I drained the header via the little blue plug, there's less water coming out vs the port side ( no heat markings )
I think if there's a water pump issue, both headers will look hot

Check for any restrictions between sea pump and heat exchanger, and the heat exchanger itself(assuming it’s a closed cooling system, I don’t know shit about Ilmores)

May sound a little off but I’d also inspect and most likely just replace at the same time the spark plugs. But I’d thoroughly check the plugs one at a time as you remove them on the hot side. Then reverse flush all the water hoses.

I had a simliar issue, it took a while to figure out, I had faulty exhaust valves. Hopefully it’s just a clog somewhere

I think it's a clog some where, my impeller shit the bed this summer while I was on the water. I had the impeller flush out the system, maybe they didn't get everything out. Does not over heat, gauge runs 170

Not Necessarily, The headers only balance on path of least resistance of waterflow, you have to have sufficient flow to cause the easier of the two restrict flow and create some pressure for full amount of water to make it to the other. Water wont just naturally go in equal amounts to both if there is a upstream flow restriction.

I'm not saying 100% that's the case, just don't be so quick to write it off as impossible.

Exactly. When water flow gets marginal on heat exchanger motors one header will get hot first. Almost always.

The single stage Hardin pumps on the viper motors don’t work that great. You have a water pressure issue. Check the pump first.

When I had it on muffs, I was watching the sea strainer, water was moving very fast and the strainer was almost full. How do I check the sea water pump?

Water pressure gauge is the only way, but you almost need a baseline to compare against.

On the hose wont tell you anything, you have to check under load running.
