So.....I have been living for years using my VZN hotspot instead of any internet connection but out here in TX Hill Country it doesn't work very well. Just ordered Starlink Residential svc for the new place. Also ordered a mesh router to extend the service on the property.

Will report back on if it works or not to my expectations. Tossed VZN to the trash heap after 30+ years going back thru numerous company name changes.

Who else is using Starlink for a residence? Where I will be is not a lot of people so I suspect I will get pretty robust service but we shall see.

We have it in Havasu Springs. Speeds have come down as user count has come up fo the zone we are in, but it’s still light years above HughesNet or ViaSat.

Been using Starlink for about 2 years.

I have never had an issue with speeds. It seems to always be able to supply enough even when the kids and friends come over and are all using it.
Plus I would rather support Elon Musk than any of the rest…

Never had it but guy we camp at glamis has it. He basically had it powered 22 hrs of the day. But it worked great able to stream tv and no issues.

Never really heard of anyone having problems these days. Hell elons launching satellites on a weekly basis.

Would it work with ring cameras? Planning to get it for the river house also. All the internet at springs sucks balls.

Yeah it does. We were just at Laguna Seca for the Indycar race. We setup a Ring camera inside watching the puppy in the crate/ make sure the AC stayed on.

We've had ours for 2 years now, glamis on holiday weekends, Parker on a holiday weekend and never had an issue. Stream TV and movies through the firestick while I'm working and on teams calls.

Been using it since 2021, it's a game changer for people that don't have the option for a decent wired connection

2 years on residential here in Havasu. Working great but the wifi and mesh from Starlink was weak and could not reliably reach pool equipment. Now using Starlink just as a modem only with Netgear Orbi 970 series WiFi router and mesh nodes. Way better wifi with this setup.

IO got mine last week. Pretty happy with it. For some reason last night my wife was streaming something and it had to buffer a few times, but not very long. When I set it up I ran a speed test and it was just under 200mbps.

My parents use it at their residence and love it. They tried all the satellite junk. Nothing but Starlink works well in the N. Idaho forest. Our friends that are 20 miles off grid north of us use it and are happy with it. They use it for text, phone calls, internet, and TV. Previously they had to drive 7 miles just to send a text.

We have the RV version for Havasu and are super pleased. We still have a unit with a Verizon, ATT, and T-mobile sim cards in them, but when we stopped moving around, we didn't need anything but the Verizon. The Starlink is so much more reliable than verizon. Previously, every time it rained or the weather was just plain crappy, cell use would go up and we would have trouble with video calls for work. So I shut the verizon off. Still have the cellular unit, but don't really know what to do with it. Technology advances and things become obsolete.

Oh, and if you leave for a month, it's very easy to shut it off so you don't have to pay for it.

I bought the mobile version worked great at first and then three afternoons in a row it would disconnect multiple times so I contacted them they said it was due to it updating now back to normal. Can be frustrating when you need it.

Buddy has it at his house in the woods 1/2 hour out of Payson. He loves it and did the verizon thing prior.

Congrats of the new place Tom.

We’ve had a for about two years now. we live off grid so it was a big game changer for us. I hate those ads that Hughesnet high-speed Internet from the sky. Those people lie. Works awesome. My speeds have gone up getting about 160 to 180 MBPS Lately in the afternoon it’s been cutting out. I think it’s due to them putting more satellites up. How do you guys contact them?

First check your obstruction map in the app, then look at the statistics page and check the dropouts (very top graph) and see if they coincide with your cut outs.

It also has a counter for how many minutes per day you were disconnected in total. Since adding all the extra sats it has gotten wayyyyyy better. When i first signed up there were about 900 active satellites, now there are over 6,000.

Back in 2021 i was getting about 20 minutes day of total disconnect time, now it's down into the seconds range

We camp outside Turn 5. So like to get up early and walk around before too crowded. On the inside of turn 5 is a path, good spot to be able to see a large portion of the track. As always have to make it up to the corkscrew. We stayed Sunday night and walked all around the pits and front straight as everyone was gone. Bring water, it will be hot. Weather is more like Carmel Valley than Monterey or Salinas.

It’s $600 for the hardware and $120 a month for the service. That’s what I paid two years ago.I live on 150 acre Meadow with nothing in the way. I am trying to get a hold of stink link through the app right now. You have to chat with them I’m guess.

I'm thinking within the next couple years they will get the dish size shrunk by half again. It's absolutely incredible what they have done.

5 years ago if you told anyone what Starlink would do for the price they would have laughed at you....

Just got one last week for Lake Powell. I rented one last year, but Starlink is shutting down the rental outfits. Our internet has been really flaky in Havasu (Optimum), so I decided to switch to Allo, but we can't install that until later in the month. While in Havasu last weekend we set the Starlink in our courtyard, plugged it in and within 10 minutes was online. It will run there until we go to Powell and also get Allo. Freaking Amazing Product!

Its a monthly billing on all of the plans. They are all on the Starlink Ap. I can turn the RV on and off when we need it. Becasue we use the RV every month we havent had a chance to turn it off yet

Although mine is a bit more custom than the typical off the shelf packages it took me about six weeks. If you get an off the shelf setup I’m sure it’s quicker.

I ordered it in Havasu, I had it 3-4 days after I purchased it. First one was cracked. I got in touch with them immediately with pics. They sent a new one the next day and I had it within 3 days. Then I sent the old one back with the shipping label they provided. I had the second one less than a week after I ordered the first one. This was in January, I believe. Very pleased with the customer service.

Holy shit.....It cam in today and I wasn't expecting it till about the 20th. Plug everything in....went to my computer and there it was all ready to go.

It is screaming speed......Seems like a good decision was made.

We just made a temp pole attachment to get it above the house and will clean that p later.

Initial thought is hot damn :)
