Elon is a genius. I have one StarLink mounted on the race car and one on the chase truck(s). It has literally transformed our communication. I was streaming the race live that’s how good it is.

That kid is an animal and Elon made it possible. I love these stories!

My dad was showing me that. I dont think the guy really thought all that out too well. The receiver he was using is a Mini. Those are 12v powered. Not the odd voltage the older ones used. There was no real reason for the jackery battery. He could have powered it off his bike's coil. Also, the guys is supposedly in his 20's but couldnt race unless his mom could watch him live? WTF?! And, he had a 360 camera live streaming it. Why did he have to have his phone taped to his chest to facetime his mom? She could log into his livestream?

By the way in route to Honolulu. Hawaiian airlines now has Starlink free WiFi on a lot of planes theses days. This is going over SF. I can smell the 💩 on the sidewalks from here. LOL

WTF is, he is a type one diabetic. I’m sure they want to keep track of him. Also the new pumps insulin management systems are run through The iPhone.
So besides being able to monitor where he was, I assume with GPS on the phone. And have a visual on how he was doing if he crashed they were quite probably able to monitor his blood sugar levels during the race.
I think it’s great good for him.

I get wanting to document that and keep track. There are PLENTY of other ways to do so than to have to FACETIME YOUR MOM through the race like a child. My youngest daughter is hypoglycemic so she wears a blood glucose monitor. Same thing most diabetics wear. I HIGHLY doubt he is wearing a pump while riding since the physical exertion burns up the blood sugar faster than the body can process it with insulin (the best way to bring blood sugar down is physical exercise).

Sorry, but I haven known a LOT of diabetics in my life and NONE have ever needed their Mommy to watch them 24/7 to be able to do something. Specially as an adult.

Sorry my son is a type one diabetic for twenty years and wears his pump all the time. Your statement burns blood sugar faster than he can process it is ignorant. and low blood sugar is more a problem than high. I’m sure he is loading during the race to remain on track.
But your comment on someone with a chronic disease who is out there getting after it speaks volumes.

I believe he was pumping while racing, he mentions a company by name and thanks them for their support.

I’m sure he was. I think it’s great. My son has done some beta testing for meditronics and. Tandem. I’m sure someone was collecting data. Be curious who the company was? Probably tandem. Thanks for the heads up!

My wife new the name when he said it during the interview. I believe his brother says we want to thank Dexcom 2.

Also, if you haven't seen their dads interview from a couple years ago, it's a really funny finish line interview.
