Great place to be. Good community, access to all kinds of great outdoor activities. Good restaurants are rare.

Great golf
Lake Powell is pretty close
Good schools
Mesquite is close if you want to gamble and Vegas isn't a bad drive.

I like the area a lot. I have put it in my list of places to move to....the only thing I don't like us the food to alcohol ratio .....

I love our backwards liquor laws...keeps people out and away. I am for all the goofy laws this state can come up with.

Maybe one order of chips and salsa...or just go to a bar. HA
While there, I went out to dinner with friend ..she and I wanted more than one drink. Maybe she didnt know which bar to go to.

All you have to do is order an appetizer or something like that. But yes St George does not have many good food options at all.

One of the places we have thought about moving. Would still keep our place in Havasu though.

It’s a great place, Hurricane too. Clean and people are great. Last summer, spent 5 days at the KOA and traveled around. Speed limit is 80 miles an hour on the FWY. So much to do n the vicinity. Weather is cooler than Havasu or BHC.

how mormon do you have to be to make a living there?

A friend of mine (born and raised in so cal) moved up there years ago with his dad. They bought two houses on the end of a culdesac over looking some BLM land that should never be developed.

He has his own auto repair shop now that is doing quite well. The first few years sucked trying to adjust, but he made it and is real happy now.

Been there many times and I like it. It does seem to get busier every time I go there though. That's is the main reason I crossed it off my relocation list when I was looking.

It is the stepping off spot for Zion and Bryce so it gets lots of tourists. Also because it is on the 15 freeway with not much between it and Vegas beside Mesquite, lots of people stop there.

I suppose if you are a ways out of town it might be okay.

My mom lives there. Nice place but gets pretty hot in the summer. If I could make money there, I would consider moving.

I just heard that it is the fastest growing area in the country.

The GC I am working for, his BIL owns a granite company in SG and is turning down work left and right due to being so busy.

people equate Utah to long cold snowy winters.

the climate in St Georgre is much closer akin to Vegas then Salt Lake. it gets 95% as hot there in the summer as the desert of Vegas....although it does cool off a little more at night then Vegas does in the summer.

as for winter....it does, but rarely, snow there and when it does its gone usually within hours.

but yeah it is Mormon land, and its hard to fit in and be accepted if your aren't LDS and from a business perspective this hold true as well. I'm sure this will PO any Mormons on the board.....but sorry that's my opinion and I spend a ton of time in Utah and my GF grew up near Provo and will tell you the same thing.

the alcohol laws in Utah are ridiculous......everyone keeps pointing out "just run down to Mesquite and get what ever you want" and that's true.....just know that doing that is highly illegal....and I know people that have been busted for "boot legging" bringing alcohol into UT and you would be shocked what the fines are. don't even THINK of getting caught with MJ...you may as well be a rapist.

its no surprise to me its growing like crazy. Beautiful scenery, moderate climate, conservative govt and lots of outdoor activities and low cost of living compared to CA.

lol, Mormons...Why do you think they built a huge ass Lee's Liquor right there in mesquite?

Same thing, Duck Creek is the Vegas natives get away, just like the cali folk come to Vegas for their get away.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...The only way to keep a mormon from drinking all of your beer, is to invite 2 mormons with you

My folks moved to Hurricane a year ago. Little community called Dixie springs. I call it the mini havasu as you have sand hollow lake a stones throw away and then mini glamis across the road at the sand dunes. Off road and boaters paradise but it’s closed year round so don’t go. [emoji23]

St George is closed. [emoji23]. We have been here 24 years and love it. Restaurants are lacking a bit. You get use to the liquor laws.

We recently moved my mother-in -law out of there and back to So Cal because her husband passed away.
Funny story! We ordered a bunch of food to go from the Olive Garden and figured we would go down and have a few drinks while we waited for our order. When the bartender asked us what we wanted to eat I said "Nothing! We are just waiting for a food order to go and want a couple of beers." The whole bar went silent as she scolded us and told us we could not be served! So we went over to Buffalo Wild Wings and ordered a few beers then went back for our food order.

Ridiculous alcohol laws!...

born and raised in Vegas...I remember at some point my dad and I were in Cedar/Hurricane/ St. George almost every weekend looking at property. As a kid I remember pushing to actually moving there, I really liked it there
