I'm not sure... One of these guys could probably chime in, but I'm pretty new to these things

I think the thread I stole it from said it was an '80

Fix the taillight on my truck. :D Keep the truck Steve. You're gonna regret getting rid of that one. You've owned it too long.

This was my truck in high school. After I graduated I fully restored it, wish I still had it sometimes for something to tinker on.

1984 Chevy with a blown 383. Blew numerous head gasket and eventually dropped a fuel injected BB 468 in it.

PT, I will give it to you for what I have into it

Bought it for $3K. Threw new rims and tires on it and front coil springs (that need a coil cut off them).

$4,500 and its yours or $3,200 with old rims and tires!

My old 78 I have had this since 1985 it was my first vehicle. I drove it everyday until 03 when I was able to buy my first new pickup. I still drive it to work every now and again. Pretty much all stock it has a built SB 400 with a 4 spd manual and the A/C still works. I will never get rid of it. Next year I'm gonna restore her.

Love these trucks! My first was a '76 Sub, then my '86 CCDually and now an '88 Sub. I have been collecting parts for the '86 and it will probably come apart this winter and get lowered, Alcoa's and overdrive and maybe fresh paint. The '88 has just got new trans and t-case as well as axles and tires, Im gonna drive this one for a wile :champagne:

That front end ran from '73-80. I believe the '80's had rectangle headlights and looked like shit, that front end looks soo good w/ round lights. Also '73 & '74 were the only years for amber marker lights under the headlights and the side moldings on '77's had the center stripe painted yellow instead of black.

Not into the bumper either, but look at the line down the side of the truck. The body work looks legit. A couple notches and you have a front bumper again with a cool filler behind it. It's a lot of frame work to do a crew cab and shortbed deal. And it's a `73, or at least so the registration says, so no Cali smog! ;)

I ordered this deal with 3.73's specifically to turbocharge it for a Super Chevy Magazine deal. The original (stock motor) went 221,000 miles, until the timing chain (plastic covered top gear) started sawing through the cover durring shut downs. Built a 'nice' long block for it back in 1989 and drove her up until a few years ago. 497,000 + miles and now I'm going to go with 'smaller chamber heads', EFI and water to water intercooling, this time around. After seeing a few photos here, it's tought to deside between "chrome or no chrome" around the body.

I don't know where the rest of the pics are during the resto but here are a few of my 77' I stuck a 86 front end clip and 87' bed on. I used 1/2 ton L.B. springs and relocated the shackle mounts. 77 GMC Resto II.jpg

I have no idea where the finished pics are and I hate to say it but IL. has taken a large toll on this truck since I lived in the west. It will get another chance some day after I finish My dads 70' he bought new. Dart II heads, forged bottom end and many trophies and Gambler winnings at many tracks across the U.S.A. for this truck with a 35 1/2" crank center-line. Through the transfer case I pull just under 7k across the finish line typically at about high 14's and low 90's.

Well, it's not a square body, but it's an OBS and it's my thread so... Picked up this 96 yesterday with 82k mi on it. JBA headers, chip, dual Dynomax mufflers, 17' Boyds, drilled/slotted rotors, system etc.
I want to roll pan it and level it. It has a 2/4 drop on it now, what is the best way to get it down to a 4/6? Should just be shackles and coils right?

Congrats

I had a indigo blue 96 with a 5/7 drop and 17" Colorado customs back in the day.

You will need a flip kit and notch the frame.... helper bags if you plan to tow

Spindles and the 2" springs up front.

I like bell tech on the obs stuff.

Congrats on the PU
Call Travis at azproperformance.com, have used him a couple of times and he knows his trucks. I think he used be a salesman for Intro before he moved to AZ and started his own gig.

Even on a 4/6 drop?

I would think yes. My Dad has a 5/7 drop on his. It's flipped/notched and it still comes close depending on how low he has his bags.

I would think that you're going to have problems if you didn't even with a 4/6. It's still a pretty basic mod.

Yep, C-notch is necessary on a 4/6 drop.

To this day I still miss my '96... 5/6 Belltech, 2" spindles/3" springs, flip kit, c-notch and Airjack bags.
