I would guess there would have to be one, in every country, that wants to sell cars in the US?

🤷‍♂️
CARB is in Riverside and most testing is done there. There is some 3rd party facilities that are EPA & CARB approved to do some testing, but all the CARB stuff eventually goes through the new facility in Riverside. Speed contracted the same company that BRP uses to get their vehicles through the process. Speed has actually been pretty successful with getting through CARB with limited issues, and was able to get a two tune using 91 & E85 passed.

I was told a few stories of issues Speed had and how it cost them months in getting the CARB certs. But was told overall CARB was happy with Speed & its contractor.

The test dyno you see RG at is a dyno in one of Hisun’s facilities, probably China, or maybe Vietnam.

The facility I toured, when I worked for Lexus, was in Inglewood if memory serves?

It was a Very long time ago, but it was where they did all their vapor testing.

The Riverside office just recently opened in 2021. Maybe they sold all their old shit to China? 🤷‍♂️

There is also a Super high tech emissions testing facility at SEMA headquarters in Diamond Bar.

I toured that right after it opened as a friend of mine works there.

They do a Lot of testing for the aftermarket world.

It's bad azz. 👍🏼

Yes. I think that was one of the main CARB facility, prior to Riverside, but I think your right that is where the aftermarket stuff is tested and processed.

I lived in Diamond Bar as a young kid in the 70’s, when it was pretty much all new or newer.

Almost 2 years ago and the timeline was already a joke then.

Let’s face it. This “startup” 5 years into it is a joke. No deaers, no support of any kind. Can barely deliver vehicles.

People are trying pull out left and right.

I would love to see if they can make it 7000-10000 miles

In all honestly the concept is cool but piss poor execution.

I think where they really fucked up is the dealers for service repair and not letting the industry do real world testing before release. Like Polaris and can am do. Where they loan/give a car to industry professionals like race car drivers or social influencers or general public ( limited amount) and say go break it!!!

Also #2 fuck up is putting 2 people that have no business running and scaling a business in charge. And lying non stop to the public. Gave the public a bad taste.

Personally I think the excitement is over and ship left port for this company. Economy sucks now they couldn’t perform while the iron was hot.

I think there are already more Mav r in field than speeds

Truthfully I was excited for a real suspension car with factory 300 hp! But performance is lack luster at best.

But think of problems that still linger with no solution

Brakes
Windshield
Turbo
Motor
Belt life
Electronics not working like tach that is slow
Axles
Pivots

I’ll note this one but it’s handful of cases where I’m starting to see front diff failures with a roll pin

Lack of dealer support
No customer service (not picking up phones or calling back)

Some of these have aftermarket fixes for big $$

Again a car that was race ready out of the box and needs nothing. I never believed that myself but some of these are not easily fixed due to Robby patent and taking people to court.

Then add controversy of shipping/carb/tapp/emtron/no refunds/missed deliveries left and right.

Robby fucked up and people have a very bad taste in their mouth.

I don’t know if it’s recoverable

What’s wrong with the turbos and the motors or the axles and the gauges? lol.

I like how you just keep randomly adding shit to your list..

Let’s be honest at this point if Robbie delivered cars that out paced everything you’d be saying they’re too fast and dangerous.

The reality is cars are being delivered, cars are constantly being improved. The people that have them love them..

@RiverDave I was at the sand sport show last week and saw your car with the rear windshield. Has it made a difference in the heat coming into the car? I am making one right now for my car it's at the glass shop right now.

Speed will not give deposits back or voluntarily return everyone’s money that’s waiting. They have already said they won’t, and allegedly a few have said RG told them to lawyer up if they want out.

In the past few months Speed’s changed the website to say these are custom cars, and they are even saying it on FB @ IG. They no longer are calling these production vehicles. Problem is for 4 plus years they have said they are mass producing and making the best production UTV. And every deposit holder was told these were mass production vehicles.

IMO the best thing Speed could do is 1) return peoples money that want out. Why make your customers mad and create more bad press. Plus once one or two sue Speed and win, it’s going to be a falling house of cards. 2) Speed needs to bring in someone who knows how to run a business of this scale and let them take over the day to day and fix the bad press, fix the production issues, and bring knowledgeable people in to build the company into what we all thought it would be. Some say they can’t afford it. I’m not sure I believe that, plus as they say it takes money to create more money. Speed needs to look farther then next week or month, and start looking at years. Then TR can enjoy life living off his percentage and kite surfing around the world. RG can continue to do what he does best, and that is designing & creating the next Speed, TT or whatever he wants. He can focus on Max’s future racing career and racing SST, Dakar and NORRA & Score.

I wonder if a “production car” would then allow them to qualify for lemon law? Interesting.

It did help with that but the roof scoop made a huge difference as well by feeding air into the cab.

lol I was wondering how long it would take for someone to figure out who number 1 was lol
How long? Lol. About the time I finished reading the sentence I knew.
I'm actually not miserable. It just reads that way over text. 😁
