Very nice ! Keep up the good work. Who makes the pop up ski tow ??
Thanks,
And I was wondering when someone might ask about that thing. I was searching_ ski_tow_pop_up_flush_ in google images and found this ski tow being used on a small, maybe 18 foot Searay. Push it to open, push it to close.:cool Very trick and very flush. I was able to order it, about a year or so ago, from a Searay dealer in St. Clair Shores for about $30 to $40 bucks. I just looked it up again now and found it for $124.50 at rodholderdepot.com.
This thing also swivels and feels as if it's got bearings in it.

I had made a backer by laminating a couple of pieces of plywood so the ski tow would have a little more beef to grab onto.;)

Thanks for the info.
Thats the ski tow I want for our 24'.

Do some web surfing. I just found this piece on regalboats.com, model 2100. I think I read that it's made by Whitecap, but can't find it on their web site. Probably a part made for Regal and Sea Ray exclusively.

I'd be calling different Sea Ray and Regal dealers to find the cheapest deal.

My trailer was built by the new guys being trained or something to that effect, over at Roadrunner Trailers. They must have welded, then used a hammer to make contact?( A lot of grinding and cutting that shouldn't have to be done.:mad2:
I need to cut off 9 to 11 of the bunk brackets and reweld new ones on so they fit flush against the boards to the hull.
After this, we can pull the boat off the trailer.

I hate paying someone to do something that ends up having to be redone by me. Sorry about the trailer. That "ish" is exactly why I have such a hard time paying anyone these days.

Rob, the painter, tells me he's flipping her over on monday.
He said the boat should be all painted by the end of next week.

Seeing builds like this make me want to step up my own build timeframe... this has been a very fun and informative build thread. Thank you for keeping it going. I can't wait to see some sunshine shots of the new paint!

Looks great Len, are you going to bump the trailer tires and fenders out a hair to give yourself some more room between hull and fender? On mine you can see where it has dug in over the years

I bought some new fenders and had them chromed. They are a little wider than the originals. They will be very close to the boat, mainly because my garage door opening is 9 feet wide, and also the rims I have are Centerline billet rims made for a Ford Ranger. I think they are 7 inches wide. I got them on CL for cheap and they are sweet also.;)
There are a few reasons why I cannot move them too far out.
If your bunks fit snug against the bottom strakes of the hull, and you strap the back end of the boat down, the boat shouldn't move at all left to right.

Are you going to be using some sort of strap on the back to help hold it down, or is that unneeded

Yes.
Bumps and dips in the road, along with the springs in your trailers suspension will make your boat feel likes it's on a pogo stick. There are no shock absorbers to cushion the ride. I'll probably use a strap that goes over the jet bowl, seeing that I don't have any transom eye bolts.

All in all, the paint looks good. If I was able to be more hands on, the stripes and some of the the color sizes would have been different. This guy did alot of work, and for $1500 with material, I really can't complain.
It's time to concentrate on the trailer and interior.

stripping everything off the top deck down to base again. Had a coupel issues and will be faster to do this than try and correct, going back on the same design just adding a color

Funny you said that. I'm actually thinking of adding a small stripe to border between the silver and white. Maybe with tape or paint it like a pinstripe? Hey, if I get tired of it, take it off or replace it with a different color.:rolleyes

It is paint, base coat, clear coat.
Thanks.
I ground off the non skid and put on a less aggressive non skid to help disguise some of the areas that were filled. It worked pretty well. I like the non skid look myself.

I seem to be so busy every summer, but hopefully I will find time to get it together this season. :blah::blah::blah:

The rear axle was factory mounted about 1 inch too far to the right. That's alot when you have these offset rims that look way too close to hitting the hull. So I cut the mount plates and moved it so it was centered.

Used some pvc tubing for drains on these flush cleats. Made bends using heat then cold water. They fit real tight in the threaded bottoms with some silicone. I'll run some clear tubing to the bilge.

Fenders and rims. Two problems going on here.

1 On the front idler hub bearing buddy. The center cap is about1/4 to 3/8 in. to shallow, and hits the buddy when installing the wheel. I am going to try and cut the mounting surface down into the hub to shorten it, and also get the caps with the removable centers. If anyone knows of center caps made for this issue I'm having let me know.

2 These fenders are kind of wide. The rims don't stick out that far. They are too close to the boat. I am going to cut angles on the inside tops and have room for carpeted backers. This is going to be a little tough to get the right look and clearance.:rolleyes

Electric brakes! Something about electricity and water that just don't seem right. Might just be the electrician in me:yikes:yikes:yikes:yikes

I did a bunch of research on this, called trailer manufactures, every where I searched, I found it to be just fine.

Time will tell.:rolleyes
