Speaking of Spectra photos... does anyone have any pictures showing the driveline of a V-drive Spectra that has "factory" rigging? The reason I ask is I've got a few extra holes in the center two stringers and my best assumption is that at one point in time the boat was equipped with two driveshaft loops. As it is now if a joint lets go the shaft is free to thrash about. I'll be fixing this before the hull hits the water and would like to keep things as original as possible. I'm interested in recreating what Spectra had originally done. I've seen in the Glenwood catalog that they offer a cast aluminum driveshaft guard that mounts between the stringers. Any chance Spectra used those back in the day?

I will see if i can get some pics up of my driveline setup, it is original setup from 71 with the alum braces you mentioned, as well as the mounting of the vdrive.

Lookin GOOD! This was taken this weekend?

I saw a few Spectras in town Saturday morning when I was filling up. SPECTRABRENT drove through the Terrible Chevron with Moonshine in tow; I saw a blue and white 20 I/O heading to towards the bridge soon after; there was also an 18 that I followed up Parker Dam RD a little ways before I turned off at the Rio Del (headed up towards Echo Lodge/Big Bend), and of course ours!!! The weather looked pretty bad (had a couple good showers in the morning), so we dusted the boat off and opted to drop in up in Needles and spend the day with some friends. I hope next time I get up there Wheeler, you can get a shot of me goin by!

My plan before summer is to clean up the engine compartment and wiring, change the intake manifold, add a scoop, and install a msd ignition.

Well the plan this time is a total makeover cosmetic wise. Since the ol thang has sat up for too many years, all that work from back then is shot. I liked those colors back then too, but way to 90's nowdays. Thinkin up a cool new paint scheme, gotta rebuild all the interior, carb job and check through the ol BBC, build new swim deck, polish, polish & polish. May try to spruce up the trailer a bit as well. Fenders didn't fit from long ago and never put any on after that, so maybe a set this go round. Colorwise, thinkin' bout some red & orange metallic over white.... Maybe an awsome flame job, inside & out. Just have to see how it all comes together. Funny thing about this boat and pix........Jim (driver) calls me sez "I heard there's some pix on the internet, some forum with a Spectra section", I had already seen the pix and never looked at the people! Jim has been a friend for many years. This boat belongs to Jim's brother-in-law who recently passed. Boat is staying in the family!

The only Spectras that I have seen without the wood grain are the Spectra 19 and a couple
Spectra 18's.
