Lost my go to Smith sunglasses a month ago at the lake when I put them on my hat, then forgot and bent over the water.

I liked the Smith’s, but figured I’d try the Costa kool-aid. Bought a pair for $220 off the website. Received them a couple weeks ago, no complaints about the lenses (I got glass) but the frames feel really cheap, like gas station purchase cheap. Really disappointed. I’m returning them.

Side note: I did some research, Costa was sold to Luxottica in 2020, Luxottica is the corporation that owns RAY-BAN, Oakley, and about 5-7 other brands.

Thinking about sticking with Smith’s. I have a couple throw around $45 Heatwaves that aren’t bad sunglasses ( feel like better quality then the Costa’s), I just prefer glass lenses.

What is everyone else wearing on the water? How do you like them?

I got a wide head. 155 in glasses sizing
Tough to fit. Most are 135-145.

Not sure how I manage but I’ve had two pair of high end sunglasses in 20 years. Revos for almost 10 years and now the Ray Bans for almost 10.

I've been looking at Gatorz. I love my floating dragons. My floating blenders aren't bad either. Especially for the cost. But gatorz have my attention.

I love em. You adjust the fit by bending the frames. I've got a small head, 7 1/4, and these are the only frame I can get to fit correctly. "It works the opposite way as well if you've got a big head. They've also got an adjustable nose piece which none of my previous wrap-around Oakleys had.

I have a Ray-ban pair for 8 years. I bought a second pair a couple weeks ago in the same frames but different color. When you find something you like you stick to it.

Ray-Ban wayfarers. For 30+ years.
Current pair since 2010, or so.
Polarized lenses, can't stand the green lenses.

Don Johnson was the shit. Sure that was 85? Hell my kid was born that year.
Ray-Ban wayfarers go back to the early 50's.
As a (poor) kid in high school, and working at a welding shop, American Optical tru gray safety glasses...7.99 at the time.

I was poor as fuck, 84ish. Got a pair of Vuarnets for 100 or so and was sold. Love the quality of the expensive ones.

I get these Smith and Wessons through work. They fit me great and are light and comfortable. I wish the lenses were a bit better, more “clear” like my Spys. My favorite pair were Smiths.

#1 Maui Jim Neutral gray or Blue Glass, #2 Costa Blue and Green Glass. Lately have been having good luck buying the Glass Costas on Jomashop for $80-130.

I really like Bombers. Specially for the lake. Polarized, they float, the foam keeps the wind out, and very reasonably priced.

Wore their glacier glasses until the Wayfarers.

Struggled with migraine-related light sensitivity several years ago and remembered them - looked and they weren't available then.

Just checked and they are now:

Just ordered a pair.

Thanks for reminding me.

Yup! These Smith n Wesson 's are all but Indestructible. I keep a few pair in the boat and each vehicle as backup.
Obviously I need to downsize 😂😂
