We stopped turned off all the lights and it was pitch fucking black. Zero city light. ….. I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face…. If you would have walked around you would have run into something.

It was still Pretty cool after it was gone. This picture is awesome.

BTW does anyone know why the trail looks like a corkscrew in the beginning? It's almost like it was wined up in a circle until it reached a curtain altitude then took off straight. Not sure if that's even possible but that's what it looked like by the trail it left.

I'm going to conjecture that the corkscrew trail is a result of a swirling vortices left in the rockets wake. Similar to wingtip vortices from jets. I think it's more noticeable when the rocket is penetrating lower elevation air that's more dense. As the rocket continues to accelerate and pass through less dense air at higher altitudes, there's less likely hood of any vortices forming.
I know my daughter in Camarillo reported a sonic boom resulting from the launch.

If you'd enjoy a far different opinion on the swirling trail and other atmospheric anomalies, head down to the P&G Dungeon and look up @ rmarion, he knows shit I'm not even capable of imagining. 😁

Just joking RM ;)😊

We have not been able to get Starlink in our area, about a 5 mile radius, because it is not covered/served yet. All the areas around us are covered and served by Starlink. We signed up for service and have been told that it would not availble until 2023.
So last evening we watched the launch and I said to the kids that those satellites being deployed tonight might be the ones for our area. Hopeful thinking.... Ha ha ...... about 1 hour after the launch we get a message that Starlink will be available to us in 7 business days!!!!! Awesome!!!!

Being able to see that sucker taking off from Pasadena, CA with a naked eye, gives you some idea just how massive the Falcon 9 is. It was amazing, and it reminded me of growing up in Central Florida in the 80's, watching the Space Shuttle launches from Cape Canaveral. 🇺🇸
