I'm going to conjecture that the corkscrew trail is a result of a swirling vortices left in the rockets wake. Similar to wingtip vortices from jets. I think it's more noticeable when the rocket is penetrating lower elevation air that's more dense. As the rocket continues to accelerate and pass through less dense air at higher altitudes, there's less likely hood of any vortices forming.View attachment 1167431
It was still Pretty cool after it was gone. This picture is awesome.
BTW does anyone know why the trail looks like a corkscrew in the beginning? It's almost like it was wined up in a circle until it reached a curtain altitude then took off straight. Not sure if that's even possible but that's what it looked like by the trail it left.
