I am hoping to pick up a spa as our family xmas present (nothing like waiting until the last minute). I have shopped around a bit and feel like a need a long soak after talking to these sales reps, they make timeshare sales look tame. I am not too worried about brand as long as its one of the legacy companies like Sundance, Artesian, HotSpring, Bullfrog $$, CalSpa, etc. I am hearing dealer service is the most important as any one of these might end up with issues and if that happens its the dealer that makes the difference. Anyone got any connections or suggestions?

I have had HotSpring and currently my second Cal Spa. There's always something that doesn't work right. LOL

I think the Hotspring was better.

Very few purchases I've regretted in my life.

What type of spa are you looking for?

is the electrical set up ?

50 amp typical

getting a spa is fairly easy …. getting electric set up is a bitch!

Carddine in San Diego.
Great customer service.
Make sure it's the "Maxx spas" model you get. Ours has been great for last 7yrs.

Hot Springs makes Caldera and at least one more. I think they are better designed and insulated than anything else available. Our Caldera has been used at least 2x a week for over 16 years. In the beginning it was in full sun and the first replacement cover was toast in 5 years, so the second replacement we went to Caldera to buy an OEM one. It still looks new after many years now. Still on original PC board and pumps. Siding still looks good, and it is cheap to operate.
Do your research into how they are built and insulated, and above all else, do a wet test. Bring a bathing suit and sit in a filled tub because they feel very different when full of water. If you aren't comfortable you won't want to use it much. If you find one that fits your body, you will be out there every night.

Yeah hotsprings is also top of the list, sales guy locally was sort of a tool, had every gimic salesy line you can imagine without ever answering the total out the door... stuff like "well when you consider total cost of ownership..."

Thanks for all the feedback, wet testing this week and will just go with what fits.
