Although I love the Stones song "Angie" I always said I didn't like it because it is so sad. I always preferred Helen Reddy's "Angiebaby" about a crazy girl who a boy comes to visit and then he disappears. :D

Angie Baby
Helen Reddy

You live your life in the songs you hear
On the rock and roll radio
And when a young girl doesn't have any friends
That's a really nice place to go
Folks hoping you'd turn out cool
But they had to take you out of school.
You're a little touched you know, Angie Baby

Lovers appear in your room each night
And they whirl you across the floor
But they always seem to fade away
When your daddy taps on your door
Angie girl, are you all right
Tell the radio good-night
All alone once more, Angie Baby

(CHORUS) Angie Baby, you're a special lady
Living in a world of make-believe
Well, maybe

Stopping at her house is a neighbor boy
With evil on his mind
'Cause he's been peeking in Angie's room
At night through the window blind
I see your folks have gone away
Would you dance with me today
I'll show you how to have a good time, Angie Baby

When he walks in the room, he feels confused
Like he's walked into a play
And the music's so loud it spins him around
'Til his soul has lost it's way
And as she turns the volume down
He's getting smaller with the sound
It seems to pull him off the ground
Toward the radio he's bound
Never to be found

The headlines read that a boy disappeared
And everyone thinks he died
'Cept a crazy girl with a secret lover who
Keeps her satisfied
It's so nice to be insane
No one asks you to explain
Radio by your side, Angie Baby

(CHORUS)

Anyone else have songs with their name in it that they particularly like?

With my name being Katie I always loved this song.

She's In Love With The Boy - Trisha Yearwood

Katie's sittin' on her old front porch
Watchin' the chickens peck the ground
There ain't a whole lot goin' on tonight
In this one-horse town
Over yonder, comin' up the road
In a beat-up Chevy truck
Her boyfriend Tommy, he's layin' on the horn
Splashin' through the mud and the muck

Her daddy says
He ain't worth a lick
When it comes to brains
He got the short end of the stick
But Katie's young
And, man, she just don't care
She'd follow Tommy anywhere
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
And even if they have to run away
She's gonna marry that boy someday

Katie and Tommy at the drive-in movie
Parked in the very last row
They're too busy holdin' on to one another
To even care about the show
Later on, outside the Tastee Freeze
Tommy slips somethin' on her hand
He says, my high school ring will have to do
'Til I can buy a wedding band

Her daddy says
He ain't worth a lick
When it comes to brains
He got the short end of the stick
But Katie's young
And, man, she just don't care
She'd follow Tommy anywhere
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
And even if they have to run away
She's gonna marry that boy someday

Her daddy's waitin' up 'til half past twelve
When they come sneakin' up the walk
He says, young lady, get on up to your room
While me and junior have a talk
Mama breaks in, says, don't lose your temper
It wasn't very long ago
When you yourself was just a hayseed plow boy
Who didn't have a row to hoe

My daddy said
You wasn't worth a lick
When it came to brains
You got the short end of the stick
But he was wrong
And, honey, you are, too
Katie looks at Tommy
Like I still look at you
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
What's meant to be will always find a way

She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
She's in love with the boy
What's meant to be will always find a way
She's gonna marry that boy someday

She's in love with the boy

Sweet Melissa by The Allman Brothers

Crossroads ... seem to come and go ... yeah
The gypsy flies from coast to coast
Knowing many, loving none
Bearing sorrow, havin' fun
But back home he'll always run ... to sweet Melissa

Freight train ... each car looks the same ... all the same
And no one knows the gypsy's name
No one hears his lonely sighs
There are no blankets where he lies
In all his deepest dreams the gypsy flies ... with sweet Melissa

Again the morning's come
Again he's on the run
Sunbeams shinin' through his hair
Appearing not to have a care
Well pick up your gear and gypsy roll on ... roll on

Crossroads ... will you ever let him go
Lord ... Lord
Or will you hide the dead man's ghost
Or will he lie ... beneath the clay
Or will his spirit float away
But I know that he won't stay ... without Melissa
Yes I know that he won't stay ... without Melissa

Its all I could find. My last name is Valentine ;)

If there were no words
No way to speak
I would still hear you

If there were no tears
No way to feel inside
I'd still feel for you

And even if the sun refuse to shine
Even if romance ran out of rhyme
You would still have my heart
Until the end of time
You're all i need
My love, my valentine

All of my life
I have been waiting for
All you give to me
You've opened my eyes
And showed me how to love unselfishly

I've dreamed of this a thousand times before
In my dreams i couldnt love you more
I will give you my heart
Until the end of time
You're all i need
My love, my valentine

La da da
Da da da da

And even if the sun refuse to shine
Even if romance ran out of rhyme
You would still have my heart
Until the end of time
Cuz all i need
Is you, my valentine

You're all i need
My love, my valentine

My daughter is Katrina, and sometimes she goes by Katie. She likes that one also, but she likes "Katie's got a fast one," by Garth and Steve Wariner better.

Figures...maybe I need to change my name!

"Heidi Is A Headcase"
by The Ramones

Headcase baby
She's a cool kind of crazy
Wild and she's willing
(It's an early Dylan)

She drives me crazy, oh yeah

When I look into her big brown eyes
I'm so glad to know she's mine
My little headcase, yeah
Ooh, ooh, yeah, my little headcase, yeah
Ooh, ooh, yeah

Heidi is a headcase, a rebel and a rouser
Blasts away for hours
What's she doin' now on the escalator
Snorting up some speed on the picture of St. Peters

What 'cha doin'?

When I look into her big brown eyes
I'm so glad to know she's mine
My little headcase, yeah
Ooh, ooh, yeah, my little headcase, yeah
Ooh, ooh, yeah

Ooh, baby baby, whatever you do now
Don't ever go away

Ooh, baby baby, whatever you do now
Don't you ever go astray
Don't you ever go away - ooh, ooh, yea

Heidi is a headcase

I remember that song! I used to be a big Ramones fan in the 80s. Wonder what happened to all my cassettes?

"Linda on my Mind" Conway Twitty

Now I'm lying here with Linda on my mind
And next to me, my soon to be, the one I left behind
And Lord it's killing me to see her crying
She knows I'm lying here beside her with Linda on my mind.

Yes I know that I once loved her
And I placed no one above her
And I never thought I'd ever set her free
But it just wasn't in my plan
The way Linda squeezed my hand
The first time that I held her close as she danced with me.

She said I've loved you for a long time
But you're married to a friend of mine
And I tried hard to never let it show
But my love for you is stronger
I can't hide it any longer
And so I thought I'd better let you know.

Now I'm lying here with Linda on my mind
And next to me, my soon to be, the one I left behind
And Lord it's killing me to see her crying
She knows I'm lying here beside her with Linda on my mind...

I grew up loving Conway Twitty because of that song. :D

"Stacy's Mom" Fountains of Wayne

Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on,
Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on,
Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on,
Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on.

Stacy can I come over after schoo-oo-oo-oo-ool,
(After school)
We can hang around by the poo-oo-oo-oo-ool,
(Hang by the pool)
Did your mom get back from her business trip,
(Business trip)
Is she there, or is she tryin' to give me the sli-i-i-i-ip,
(Give me the slip)
You know I'm not the little boy that I used to be,
I'm all grown up now,
Baby can't you see.

[Chorus]
Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on,
She's all I want,
And I've waited for so long,
Stacy can't you see,
You're just not the girl for me,
I know it might be wrong,
But I'm in love with Stacy's Mom.

Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on,
Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on.

Stacy, do you remember when I mowed your lawn,
(Mowed your lawn)
Your mom came out with just a towel oh-oh-oh-oh-on,
(Towel on)
I could tell she liked me from the way she stared,
(Way she stared)
And the way she said, "You missed a spot over ther-re-re-re-ree,"
(Spot over there)
And I know that you think it's just a fantasy,
But since your dad walked out,
Your mom could use a guy like me.

[Chorus]
Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on,
She's all I want,
And I've waited for so long,
Stacy can't you see,
You're just not the girl for me,
I know it might be wrong,
But I'm in love with Stacy's Mom.

[Instrumental Section]

[Chorus]
Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on,
She's all I want,
And I've waited for so long,
Stacy can't you see,
You're just not the girl for me,
I know it might be wrong,
I'm in love with Stacy's Mom.

I'm in love with Stacy's Mom,
Oh-oh, oh-oh,
I'm in love with Stacy's Mom,
Oh-oh, oh-oh,
Wait a minute,
Stacy can't you see,
You're just not the girl for me.
I know it might be wrong,
But I'm in love with Stacy's Mom.

Far as I know there is no song using my given name ... thank goodness for Steely Dan :D

FM by Steely Dan

Worry the bottle mama, its grapefruit wine
Kick off your high heel sneakers, its party time
The girls don't seem to care what's on
As long as it plays till dawn
Nothin' but blues and Elvis
And somebody else's favorite song

Give her some funked up music, she treats you nice
Feed her some hungry reggae, she'll love you twice
The girls don't seem to care tonight
As long as the mood is right

FM - no static at all

Give her some funked up music she treats you nice
Feed her some hungry reggae she'll love you twice
The girls don't seem to care tonight
As long as the mood is right

FM - no static at all

I actually enjoy the song too. Another fave of mine is ...

Phasors On Stun by FM :D

Hold fast
Hold on
Nothing is a dream
Yet in
Changing
Faster
It never seems to be here long
Move on
Turn around
Just can't seem to find it
Try and
Reach out
Hold out
I cannot touch the wind
I touch you

Reach out
Hold out
Nothing here is real
Yet in
Searching
Farther
It almost seems to live
Until it
Moves on
Turns 'round
Just can't seem to lose it
Try and
Hold fast
Hold on
I cannot grab the wind
I grab you

Hold fast
Hold on
Nothing is a dream
Until you
Wake up
Cry out
Now it isn't real
Now you
Hold fast
Hold fast
Hold on
Just can't lose it now
Move on
Turn round
Wake up
You cannot ride the wind

Hold fast
Hold fast
Hold on
Just can't lose it now
Move on
Turn round
Wake up
You cannot ride the wind

"Cindy"
by good ol' Johnny Cash

Wish I was an apple dangling from a tree
Every time you'd pass me by you'd take a bite of me
I wish I was a bluebird I'd never fly away
I'd sit up on your shoulder baby and sing to you all day

Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home Cindy Cindy
Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home to me

I wrote it in a letter, carved it on a tree
Told it to a honeycomb, told it to a bee
Told them that I love you, they all know its true
Say it till the cows come home until it gets to you

Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home Cindy Cindy
Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home to me

Need you in the morning to start the coffee pot
Need you in the afternoon to fan me when I'm hot
Need you in the evening when supper time is through
What I'm really tryin' to say is I can't get enough of you

Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home Cindy Cindy
Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home to me

If I were a musician I'd harp on just one thing
You should never play my harp the way you pluck a string
If only you would love me say it and tell me so
I need two charms about me baby to have the whole world
know

Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home Cindy Cindy
Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home to me

Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home Cindy Cindy
Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home to me

It's hard to believe you thought you were left out! :D

Some of the folk song verses

You ought to see my Cindy
She lives away down south
She's so sweet the honeybees
Swarm around her mouth.
The first time I saw Cindy
She was standing in the door.
Her shoes and stockings in her hands,
Her clothes all over the floor.
I wish I were an apple
A-hangin on the tree
An' every time that Cindy passed
She'd take a bite o' me
She told me that she loved me
She called me Sugarplum
She drew her arms around me
I thought my time had come
She loved me on the mountainside
She loved me on the hill
And every time she said "I won't"
Her echo said "I will!"
She took me down to "Parker"
She cooled me with her fan
She said I was the prettiest thing
In the shape of mortal man
She loves me in the summertime
She loves me in the fall
If she don't love me all the time
I want no love at all.
My Cindy is a pretty girl
My Cindy is a peach;
She throws her arms around my neck
And hangs on like a leech.
If I had a pretty gal
I'd put her on a shelf;
Ev'ry time she smiled at me,
I'd jump right up myself.
Wish I had a needle and thread
Wish that I could sew
I'd sew that gal to my coat tails
And down the road we'd go
Chorus:
Get along home, Cindy Cindy
Get along home, Cindy Cindy
Get along home, Cindy Cindy
I'll marry you some day.
(or I'm gonna leave you now)

Some of the verses made fun of Cindy's appearance, painting her as having buck teeth, being bowlegged, while some painted her as a knockout. Here's an unusual verse about her eyes:
Cindy, she has one blue eye
She also has one brown
One eye sees the countryside
The other watches town
The theme of Cindy and religion had many variants. Often a singer would include more than one verse, especially when the singer was painting a vision of a lusty mountain girl struggling to conform to the ideals taught by the country circuit rider:

Now, Cindy's got religion,
She wheeled "'ol Wheeler" round and round
She got so full of glory
She knocked the preacher down
My Cindy's got religion,
She had it once before
When she heered my old banjo
She's the first one on the floor.
Cindy got religion
She really went to town;
Got so full of glory, Lord,
Shook her stockin's down.
My Cindy's got religion,
I'll tell you what she done:
She went up to the minister
Chawed her chewin' gum.
cindy is blonde
she is as pale as white bread
oh cindy cindy
how we love you dearly
oh cindy
with that gray and black and a little white striped shirt

Is it true that "Peggy Sue" was originally named "Cindy Lou" and who was Cindy Lou?
Originally a slower song with a Calypso beat, Buddy penned “Cindy Lou” named after his sister Patricia's middle name "Lou" aka Louise. Cindy was her first daughter named "Cindy Carol Weir". Buddy wanted to include both his sister and his niece in his new song, so he titled it "Cindy Lou".

If you knew Cindy Lue - then you’d know why I feel blue
without Cindy - my Cindy Lue
oh well, I love you gal - yes, I love you Cindy Lue

Cindy Lue, Cinddy Lue- oh how my heart yearns for you
oh Cindy - my Cindy Lue
oh well, I love you gal - yes, I love you Cindy Lue

Cindy Lue, Cindy Lue - pretty pretty pretty pretty Cindy Lue
oh Cindy - my Cindy Lue
oh well, I love you gal and I need you Cindy Lue

I love you Cindy Lue - with a love so rare and true
oh Cindy - my Cindy Lue
well I love you gal - I want you Cindy Lue

***SOLO***

Cindy Lue, Cindy Lue
pretty pretty pretty pretty Cindy Lue
oh Cindy - my Cindy Lue
oh well, I love you gal and I need you Cindy Lue

I love you Cindy Lue - with a love so rare and true
oh Cindy - my Cindy Lue
well I love you gal - I want you Cindy Lue

oh well, I love you gal and I want you Cindy Lue
