So last night i needed to move a trailer and since my dually is in the shop just decided to use the Suburban ( and my brand new shiny hitch)
I bought the bumper for the suburban years ago and didn't really think anything about towing. its a huge steel bumper with spare tire.
Well go to put in the hitch in the receiver and there isnt a hole to put the pin in. Seriously WTF

Although you’re hitch package looks killer, I gotta say, the shock absorbing hitch I purchased (it has a heavy duty rubber disk incorporated into it) is everything I was hoping for. Not a single “bump” either stoping or acceleratin. Between the two secondary pieces, it has like 10 inches of travel up or down so I can tow just about anything with it. It was fairly inexpensive as well. About 1/2 of what similar higher end systems cost.

I borrowed one from the machine shop at a shipyard when I was in dry dock, carried it from the shop to the boat.
One of the workers walks up to me and says that's the first time I've seen someone carry that thing to a boat, we use a hand truck.

Not the last one that 42X that was one expensive toy, the other Cigs were cheap compared to it. and it never ended until selling it, i only have so much room for tools so can't get much more,

Mag drills are awesome but I’m not sure you’ll be able to get close enough to the pin location with all that bulk. I built K5 bumpers back in the day and hate to say it but I welded a few receiver tubes on rotated 90 degrees so the pin could not work.

I'm pretty lucky. Have a 3500 sq. ft. shop building about a thousand feet from my house in the Keys. Not short of space for tools. And surprisingly my wife understands. She bought me a giant Snap On roll a way for our twentieth anniversary. Thought it was really cool until the dealer gave me the 15K plus bill. You can never have too many tools or boats! About 300 more of those pack out cases and you might be able to Lego them into something that looks like a boat to tow with you new hitch. Or just torch the fucking hole, both ways work

Yeah i'm pretty sure it won't work, was just trying to be funny. i got a killer deal on it so figured why not. if its completely useless ill sell it but in the meantime ill make some straight holes,

When I built the truck in my avatar I wanted and needed one so bad. I drilled at least a hundred holes through 3/8”-3/4” annealed metal and most were 3/4” holes. I snapped so many bits and broke so many drills it was crazy. Broke one wrist as well. I was being too cheap to spurge on a mag drill until years down the road. I also tried modifying a cheap Chinese drill press, just like you were talking about, but it was way too big and cumbersome.

Holy crap you aren't kidding, Think ill stick with regular drill bits for now, but nice to know i have the option down the road.

Figured it was time to drill a hole in the receiver for the hitch
No way the get my fancy new mag drill in there to do it but regular drill should work with some patience
Well need to move the trailer plug
Unbolt it and what do I see but the damn hole
How in the hell I missed it I don’t know
Maybe this being sober all the time is messing with me

Its pretty funny that most dont realize that the Milwaukee guy IS the Ryobi guy.

Ryobi for home (the oddball 18v tools they have for home uses are awesome!), Milwaukee for work.

Damm it! Now I need a set!

I ended up buying a chinese magdrill of amazon awhile back. Works beautifully. I don't use it often but when you need it.......

I would have much rather had one of the better ones like the cordless from Dewalt (already committed to them due to batteries) but just couldn't justify the price jump for occasional use.

Yep she is running good, the damn service light keeps coming on ( code for speed sensor) been fight that for over a year, no one can figure it out.
