Colder weather is pushing its way into North Texas. Thought I'd warm things up a little with some photos of our Howard flattie. It looks original....because it is!! Powered by a 427 Ford low riser. Of course, having the right tow rig is essential.....

Enjoy!! :p

I'm sure you've been told before, but that is a prime example of a couple of badass rigs. Both the truck & the flat are incredibly clean... :thumbsup Nice pics, but not the same as seeing them up close...

is the 427 all orignal or have you gone through it

It is still standard bore and has all the original internals.....except for the cam and distributor. I installed a stick from Clay Smith, went from .460 to .500 lift. I did all of the fooling around I wanted to with a Mallory dual point unit (OEM to Ford) when I was a kid, so the billet MSD and a 6M-2 were installed.

The upholstery is original......sewed up by "Jack" in January 1968.

This is a photo of the boat that appeared in a 1973 National Geographic magazine...I'm sure Parker people willl recognize the section of river.

How 's the new knee doing? Mine is great, could bend more. Your Boat & Truck looks awsome.:champagne:

Totally effed up.....going in for surgery again in a few weeks. Going to get a "do-over" I guess. At least it's not going to interfere with boating season! :grumble:

Echo Lodge (way pre seawall LOL) . That is Jump off Rock just up river from Sundance.

We had a permanent trailer there in 73 but the photo is not clear enough to see it.

How do Segues perform with paddle wheels at the river? :D

Amazing rig, rrrr. Looking at that beautiful combination helps a person forget how much life sucks for a few moments.

LOL, yeah. :D Think it has polished aluminum wheels on it as well. He had it it Plowman's year before last, cruising around the Lodge with it. Pretty cool, I didn't know they could get around that well on rough/uneven terrain. :thumbsup

I knew I would see it again and now regret selling it. Are you the same guy that bought it from me in Havasu off ebay and drove from Texas? If so arn't you glad you did. Once again WOW! you did a great job on cleaning it up.

That's me....It was a long haul From Dallas to Havasu and back in three days. I don't know if you remember, but I stood in your driveway for some time thinking about bagging out on buying the boat. I had realized how much labor and money it would take to restore it to the way it had been when new. For example, I spent almost $3K going through the engine making it perfect. FE parts are freekin' expensive. I replaced the old Aero Marine v-drive with a Casale.

I really enjoyed the work making everything look new again. Thanks for the compliment. For everyone's information, sfury was the second owner of the boat....I'm the third. The original owner and builder's son has contacted me about buying the boat back for his dad, we might make a deal someday.

I still have the 1967 pinks for the boat and trailer and The National Geographic you gave me....along with the photos of its original construction. Last week I found a practically new copy of the magazine at Half Price Books, paid a buck for it.

It's really a blast to drive down the road towing the boat and getting looks and thumbs up from others.....

Don't seem to see people jumping off there anymore.
The Emerald Cove rumor mill said someone buried Mexican land mines (buried boards with nails) along the access trail.

Had that truck with an old style lift gate and a straight 6 at my work.

I had it painted, new motor, new Ford O matic, glass,, new interior, and old school Dept of Power & Light Decal on the doors,, at company expense.

Used to always draw a small group of people where ever I went.

A motor pool manager with juice was crazy about it, so had it sent to salvage because of it's age,, and he bought it before auction.

427's my most favorite American engines.
