So I stopped at Iron Mountain tonight on the way in to bring Marty some canned food for his dog. He has a lot of stuff piled up and told me that some guy brings his truck by about every two weeks so he can take his stuff into town and get some money. He said that guy hasn't come by for about a month and he thinks his truck is broke down. So as a result, he hadn't been able to get into town for about a month and a half.
I don't know if anyone is going by with a truck who has some room and some time to help him, but he said he's afraid to leave his stuff behind to go to town, because it'll get stolen. My truck is in Havasu. I'm trying to figure out a solution for him. Also, if anyone is coming in tomorrow, he'd like some meat. He said he can cook it. Anyone have a suggestion?

He also needs some C batteries. He does need to move his harvest to Parker. He's sitting on $500 worth of product from the desert. We are working a new trailer for him but he can't leave until this load is taken to Parker.

He did mention something about a trailer but I couldn't figure out what he was talking about. Mostly because he doesn't have truck to pull it with. A trailer that he could put his stuff in and lock up would be the ticket.

Marty is the recycling guy who camps out on the 62 between Iron Mountain RD and Vidal Junction. It's about a 40 mile stretch and he recycles all the cans and bottles. Pretty much keeps that stretch of road clean.

Thinking I'll take him some ground beef. Lots of different kind of meals he can make with that. Last time I talked with him he said his dog prefers people food....or more like whatever he's eating[emoji4] [emoji240] , kinda blows off the dog food sometimes. I noticed he had multiple bags of dog food already.
Wish I was taking my truck out, I'd take him to town. Gonna have my dog along this trip too, and she isn't always friendly with other dogs, don't need to risk that.

I think some ground beef would be the best thing due to its versatility. Maybe a bag of ice too. As far as his dog goes, the reason he likes to feed him canned food is, the dry food gets too hot and starts to go bad and the dog won't eat it. I got him a couple cases from Wal mart, cheap, fast and good as they say. I want to say thanks to all you RDP guys for your responses to this.

Consider the meat delivery done...I'll be going through later today.
I'll see what else he can use and post it up here.

The ground beef was perfect. Easy for him to chew/eat and as he put it "I can make all kinds of stuff with it". [emoji106]
He's got a good supply of canned food.
.
Specifically asked what his greatest needs are and "C" batteries tops the list. Also, if you have any old music CD's with country or old rock you are done with he'd love something new to him.
I brought him some more ice also. He seems less concerned about ice since the pump station workers keep him well stocked.
He did get a new trailer but it's for his daily collection runs. A small lockable enclosed box is what he hopes to get one day. With that he could run loads back to town.
I asked if a one way ride to the recycler with his cache would work...could he hitch a ride back out perhaps? Not likely, mainly because where he takes it he has to be there pre-6am or he says the amount recycler pays drops.
.
That's the latest on him as of a few hours ago.[emoji106]

Thank you for the update. We got some C batteries for him. Also a case of water and some clothes and blankets that we are gonna bring. I'll stop by a Walmart or something and grab a few CDs.

Lisa wants to know how he's keeping the dog cool in the hotter months...

We stop by and see Marty every week. He does have about $400-500 worth of recyclable there and is waiting on his friend to come and get him when there truck is fixed. He thinks it should be ready in the next week or so. This past friday on the way out we stopped and gave him a radio that he asked if we could pick up for him. He always offers to pay us but we always decline the money. The guys up at Iron mtn bring him ice daily so he always has something cold.

items he can use:

AAA batteries
C batteries
Canned dog food

If you are not sure what to bring, stop by on your way out and ask him, then bring it back on your way home.

This week on friday he asked if we could bring him some fresh meat, so on our way home we stopped and gave him a couple of hamburger patties and some pork.

I stopped yesterday and brought him a couple lbs of hamburger, couple cans of chili and some C batteries. Looks like he's pretty well stocked and he told me about the CD player someone brought him. He likes old country and old rock and roll so if anyone has some old cd's lying around I'm sure he'd appreciate it. Biggest problem for him is he's been landlocked there for a month and a half. He said he finally paid off his motor home (which I don't think is a big diesel pusher) and once he gets out of this situation, he's going to stay in that. He said to tell everyone thanks.

Wish there was more we could do. I have a buddy with a small enclosed trailer I could probably get for about 1200-1400 bucks. It's a single axle with a ramp on the back. If it will work and he's willing to sell maybe we can pull resources and buy it for him?

For the most part he's not lacking much...
I think he just enjoys the visit from people.
His strategy is thought out. He told me he works the 95 from indian casino road to down past big river in the winter months. He rarely gets help or support from passing snowbirds so weather-wise its survivable in the winter.
Summer months he does the 62 because the summer visitors stop and give support regularly.
Well worth stopping just to chat with him. [emoji106]

Someone should replace whatever he is using that takes AAA and C batteries with something that takes AA and D batteries ;)

His dog "Buddy" looks very healthy and happy, I must say. Dirty/Dusty though, but what would you expect.
We had our dog with us and she can be a little biatch sometimes with other dogs. She liked him though, I mean wow, she's never let any other dog lick her g-spot quite like she let Buddy....[emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

I'm heading out early Friday morning. Sounds like he's got alot of support, but I will stop by and see what he needs and bring it back by on the way home next week. Great effort dude...hope to see you guys this weekend.
