Hey there...any SoCal duck hunters out there? If so...are you gearing up and getting excited. Kinda tough with the heat right now but I am trying to motivate myself!

In SoCal, but never hunted duck. Usually chase dove and quail. Missed the Dove opener (son’s baseball tournament), but we’re gearing up for bird season.

My daughter (11) wants to bird hunt with me this year (I’m stoked), so I’m searching for a .410 for her. The boy (9) also wants to go.

Teach them young!

I’d have to assume finding a .410 will be a pretty tall task, but finding the ammo I’d think will be much more challenging. No?

We took my cousins daughter with us, she just turned 10, he said screw it and bought a youth 20 gauge semi, she's a tiny girl and handled it well, thing doesn't kick. Might just want to go that route so they can use it for a few more years.

She got 2 birds on opening day. Better then I did on my 1st.

Agreed...you can run light 20's through it and it won't effect her at all.

These combo guns are great for the kid who live on a farm. (Savage 24 S-D Combo .22 Lr / 20 Ga)
I was 10 when I got it for my Birthday, and it was used before I got it. I passed it down to my brothers when I could shoot 12-gauge. My Nephew has it now and went through it. Looked like new again. 😏

Looking forward to duck season...bought all my draws for San Jac...hopefully my luck is better than last season with 0 draws....I will probably try to sweat line more this season because I want to get the new pup in the blind/water...

My son hated his .410 and couldn't drop anything with it, especially with steel shot...got him a youth 20ga semi-auto....and he loves it....has limited out on Dove two seasons in a row and knocked a few duck down last season...
