I have a friend looking to purchase bulk ammo in SoCal. Does anyone have any recommendations for stores that have competitive pricing?

I bought some ammo at LAX Ammo in Huntington Beach a few years ago. Not sure on the prices now.

yea, i think LAX ammo is about the only "shop" that you can walk into and get that kinda thing.

I feel like most stores have a very limited stock.

the best move is still to just ship it to an AZ address and grab it while you're out there next. :(

sad state of affairs

Sportsman's warehouse had CCI blazer 9mm on sale for 13.99 per box of 50 here in Nevada. Not sure if Sportsmans is in California, but they had mountains of it. Pretty sure that equates to .28 a round.

You guys can't do online ordering in California? You can usually get 223 for low .40s online.

you CAN, but you need to ship it through an FFL, and pick it up there after doing a background check (and pay a fee for them granting you the privilege)

typical CA scam to generate revenue through taxes

This is the Big 5 deal right now. I know this isnt really bulk pricing at all....... but for a walk-in store.... doesnt seem too bad. (I have NO idea about this manufacturer or its quality).

Just a heads up on the new tax. Picked up two $45 boxes of lead free hunting ammo for a buddy last month. The total was $140. I don’t think there’s a bulk price out there that could make a purchase in CA reasonable.

Some places won’t ship to an address that doesn’t match the billing address happened to friend of mine who wanted to ship to my house.

So I just got locally as it was pretty much same price. Some places price sounds great but after shipping and tax it’s a jump.

Think when I get back this week I might go ammo shopping 🤔

My opinion is

Make a trip out of state ! Bring cash !

You spend $1500 to 3k …. you’ll get a discount !! Maybe network w/ a friend or friends !!

Reading this thread last night made me think I should go to the range soon to practice. Haven't been in quite a while. Too long it seems as I went to my local gun store and was refused ammo because they have to do a background check. And add insult to injury the guy tells me that it may take 3 weeks. I keep getting more and more reasons to make a day trip to Arizona.

Bought ammo last Monday, in and out in less than 10 min with the background check

SGAmmo is $12 flat rate shipping for orders up to $200. Free shipping above that and they will ship to Arizona with a California credit card.
