I kamikazeed mine the first time I tried it. That little Cox was screeeeeeeeming doing bout 150 straight for the dirt.

I couldn't fly a tethered plane for shit.
One of our dealership mechanics competed in the dogfighting stuff big time. These were the planes that looked like one big wing. Two dudes in the middle trying the cut the 6' ribbon off each others' plane. The dance they had to maintain was a show in itself. Insane speeds. Some spectacular gazillion piece crashes too

In the 70’s, prior to radio control, we had these Cox 049 dune buggies. They also had a van and a little amphibious version that would pretty much always sink.

Clever and durable drive system. Any kid could fix and work on them.

I started out with a Tamiya Fox. Then I moved up to an RC10 with the gold chassis and the first RC10T. Pretty much had every variation of the RC 10 after that as well as most the lost vehicles. Raced mostly in the Bay Area at Hobby Haven and RC City. Came down to M&M a few times and then raced at So Cal a bunch when I moved to HB. Now there isn't many tracks left in the So Cal area.
