If you've never made that drive (the 95 way) slow way down at the train tracks, unless they actually finally fixed it.
I hit those doing about 80mph heading to vegas. I looked in my side mirror just in time to see my boat 1’ above the trailer. It seemed like 100 miles before I found a safe place to pull over and check it.

Yep, only made that mistake once! Thought my boat was coming off of the trailer.

We used to always go this way but you may get stuck on the wrong side of the track waiting for the longest train you've ever seen go by. The last straw for us was when one BROKE DOWN at the crossing and the only way south was to go back through Laughlin and then south! That the way we go now all the time, because of the fckn train!!
Don’t worry we run them even longer and with less horsepower these days. It’s called fuel conservation while surcharging the shippers.

Any windows of time when trains hit the 95 crossing that one should avoid?
Have to get my daughter from Havasu to Vegas in a June for her flight to grandma and papas and don’t want to get stuck waiting on a train

It’s been rare for us to have to wait for a train at that RR crossing on 95. But, it has happened. 95 is still the preferred route, as long as it’s not pouring down rain or numerous snowbird RVs going the direction you’re going.

No. It’s one of the busiest rails in the country (what BNSF has told us when we handle train vs car crashes) and they freak the fuck out when things go wrong on it.

That might be a real problem today because the airport is closed for repaving I believe.
Well that might explain why all the new planes are slumming it in Parker but why did they feel the need to take over Robby G's tie down area? :)

No that would be nice, but there is absolutely zero schedule on the railroad. It’s when the train gets to the crossing till when it clears.

I will however add the absolute most important part. This goes for ALL ROAD CROSSINGS, when one clears gate or no gates, please always and remind others specially your children, always wait till the train clears far enough so that you can see the other track.
I had a close one the other night, eastbound cleared the crossing we were westbound, gal ran across never looking and we missed by less than feet, i didn’t even see her till i glanced in side window.

My grandfather worked for Barrington Northern in Chicago in the 70’s and 80’s and was a lead on the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway acquisition. Knew that rule on crossing, but he also knew the track schedule around Chicago like clockwork.

Exactly, always look both ways even when the gates are up

Yea a track schedule makes sense when talking commuter, or originating terminals. But across the transcon it’s just not possible. Ask @Kachina26 how hard moving trains is, now ask him how hard or practical it is to keep them on schedule. He does the dispatching for us main liners.

Yes, yes they do. Figure an entire train full of UPS packages riding for free if they don’t make the deadline.

Moving them is easy, getting terminals to take them is a whole issue in itself.

To be fair, searchlight is more fucked up than the entire state of california. It spawned Harry Reid for god’s sake.
I know a lot of people who live in Searchlight. I put on an offroad race there every year. Most people who live there hate that guys guts and his douchebag sons too. I'm actually surprised no one has torn down the Harry Reid rd. sign yet.

Searchlight GP? Man I did so bad at that race one year.

I had a buddy that lived there, we had some epic summers going to Mojave, and then coming back and partying at his place. Searchlight was so much fun back then, his neighbor across the street had a mini cannon that he would fire off occasionally.

I did help Mitch Canepa by doing the riders meetings with the last few years if the GP. The race that my club puts on is the night race in July. This year it's on 7/14 and 7/15. We do a kids race on friday night on the Doings property and on Saturday night we do the adult night race on the same property into BLM land. Come out and hang out with us. I stay out there for the whole week before the race setting the course up. This year i'm going to get my trailer down there then go back to Henderson and get my boat so I can go to Cottonwood during the heat of the day to hang out in the water. PM me if you want to come down and hang out.

Didn’t take it bad. You should try dealing with Metrolink when the tracks are shut down. Dead grandma, crime scene, they don’t care. Just get it moving again.
