I think it was atvconnection.

Then theatvcompound...

I think these two musta been like this place and that other boating forum. The compound was a spinoff of people that were sick of the bs at connection! Met a LOT of cool people at thecompound, and we did a shit load of trips together. I didnt even have kids back then. That was a Long time ago!

Classic Mustang forum......hence the Handle 65K. If you know mustangs the 65 "K" Code was the HiPo motor that came from the factory with solid lifters, High Compression pistons, High Performance Manifold, Carb and exhaust.....that was 20ish years ago.

I met some cool guys and learned a TON about Mustangs.

Here's a couple of Pics

I think it was Purple Ocean or Rusty N Edies Place. These were BBS boards from the 80's.
I had just built a 386 machine with a 30 Meg hard drive and was wondering what I was going to use to fill all that space on the hard drive. :D

The internet hadn't been invented yet. :D :D

RDP!!!!!!!!

HotBoat - Jun 2001
Havasu Doug's..
Was asked to help start Havasu Barneys.. Awhile later didn't see eye to eye with barney on porn and a certain canadian (was told go fuck myself more or less.. LOL) Went back to HB
Started RiverRatLife.. Awhile later didn't see eye to eye.. (was told to go fuck myself) went back to HB
Started RDP as a personal site (Note the name of the site so there was no confusion)
Was asked to help start/prime Performance Boats.com (ended up fucking myself for failed promises, albeit they were apologized for years later)
Built RDP from ground up... Now everyone else can go fuck themselves. :D

That day after the JK Summerfest was pretty epic. A bunch of hung over dudes, vendors, and cage fighters running around Big Bear.

I started with the forum on RV.Net or Woodalls back in the very eairly 90's. Cararoz28.com in '01, GlamisDunes, Then JU (Jeeps Unlimited), Jeepfourm, JKO for a short while, HB in '05. I am a member of about 6 others from FordTrucks.com to Fullsizechevy to several Dodge truck sites.

RDP is kind of the home base though. I have learned a bunch about pomeranian dogs , Lawn Paint, Cobras, flowered mailboxes, glastrons, and skid steers' here. :thumbsup

I am looking for a fun saltwater foum to hang out on but to many stuffy old retired folks so far.

Vdriveboat.com. For me that's the place to go for solid info on the old flats.

First one was the Atlas/Craftsman Lathe group about 2000. Learned a bunch about lathes and that people can be douches on the internet.

Then I got on a trombone forum...And got sideswiped after being helpful. Didn't go back for a couple years...then I found out the community eventually agreed with me, but I got a thicker skin.

Then I got on a 409 forum. This one was similar to the Atlas one, mostly older guys with good info, or medium old guys trying to figure out 409s...but a little drama here and there, people not doing what was promised, etc.

Then I got on Hotboat...and lurked for a few weeks. I could deal with Hanson getting all canadian, but Topless ball tapping everyone was weird, but I'd figured out to play nice.

Then here and PB...PB never got what HB was, the good and the bad. We have an interesting dynamic to be sure, but a better hang than PB.

1st forum wasn't actually a forum but a Bulletin Board System back around the late 80's... I was about 12 years old and a computer geek. We were exchanging shareware games and talking about them...

All my friends had Nintendo.... they just didn't get it.

FordDiesel.com was first.

Then Extremebuggies.com..I actually wrote a monthly column for that one called, "In A Pigs Eye by Flyinbowtie"...the Flyinbowtie thing came from a red bowtie shaped taillight on my sand rail.

Then we visited friends who moved to Havasu when my back problems were firs starting...2004 I think.
Got home form Havasu and found Riverratlife.com
Then Hot Boat.
Left them all for this place as soon as it lit up and been here ever since.

I had forgotten about this, but my first forum was actually a shifter kart website back when I raced shifters. This was in about 99...and where I got the 99 in my screen name. It was definitely dial up internet. I didn't get DSL until 2001 (even though I was in the technology business). LOL.

LOL you'd be amazed at what people come up with...no the taillight was bright almost LED red and on the back of the 630 HP hillshooter friends said at night it looked like it was "a bow tie flying up the hill"

So when people came into camp to see the car, "Hey Flyinbowtie somebody wants to ask you about your rail"
Man it stuck like glue.
When extremebuggies came to me to write the column they had seen/heard the nickname and we came up with the In a Pigs Eye deal..

Pirate4x4 in late 2002 and Hotboat soon after. Pirate was a scary place back then. Newbies were fresh meat.
