So what caused t shirts to start getting printed on the front ?

So I'm sitting here at Nomads in San Clemente when I ask myself - what caused the change in t shirt printing front always havin the big print on the back to now more of the prints are on the front ...

that's a good question. As I remember it started to gain popularity somewhere in the late 90's and has really become the standard for the majority of the brands that cater to the young crowd. now a days I find myself passing up a cool short because of large front prints in search of the small pocket print and large back print.

My favorite shirt of all time......still to this day is "Mr. Zoggs Sex Wax"...........(on the back) I think it takes me back to my 4th grade year when I bought one down in Newport when I was with my friends family..........I wore it to school one day and the principal called my dad.............dad showed up and never said a word to me although I was suspended for 2 days............every time I see one now.......I grab one :thumbup::thumbup:

Vanity, the youth desire attention that they didn't receive at home and they want to be sure they see what you saw.

The only shirt that I have ever worn with large print on the front is RD's 1st generation shirts. :thumbsup

For me in high school it was op cord shorts (light blue) and a tshirts with a small print on lft chest with big on e the back ...

I still have a hard time now wearing anything on the front ... Although I like the RDP shirt with logo mid chest

Your picture has the answer. Sponsorship $$$$... Huge logos up front for TV, Press, etc. When I design gear for sponsored riders I want you to see it from 100ft out. Pros want salaries and sponsorships... companies want recognition.

Kids prefer it on the front, I like it on the back, but my son will not get shirts that have the big part on the back and my son is 15
