For water and land travel to Mexico and back you just need a passport card.

Anyone getting a passport should consider “Passport card” too. Especially if driving frequently in/out of Canada or Mexico. It’s acceptable alternative to RealID which is required next year for air travel and proof of citizenship.

It ain’t cheap. Pain City. long, PITA crossing back and forth. All the legendary fun spots are gone.

For a few oddball prescriptions we get filled and friends get 3rd world strip mall dental work most cross at the Quechan tribe parking in Los Algodones - Winterhaven. $8 right there at the crossing.

Maybe more convenient for us because we off road out there.

No passport reqired. Birth certificate is fine. Just stay out of the sentri and ready lanes if driving back.

Everytime I go a couple of people dont have passports, sentri, or global entry documents. Simply present state id and birth certificate and no questions.
