So I get a bad survey today and the owner (worth hundred's of millions of dollars) wants to back charge me $70.00 for not over selling a customer service she does not need and she wanted done. I am a service ADVISOR at a Toyota dealer and she did not need the service she wanted for another 5,000 miles. I like working for a family owned business and have no sells pressure but I think I am going to stand my ground on this, BTW he threatened my bosses job as well. do you think its worth it?

In this econmic climate, jobs can be hard to find, especially in the automotive industry. I wouldn't lay down regarding the charge-back though. You were just providing good service, ensuring repeat business.

Yes, they can not back flag you legally! at all.

I'm going to lose my job from being on here to much but I don't think I have a case.

Fuck dealerships!

I wouldn't happen to work for one. :p

Well I'm 100% against up selling a customer with something they don't need.

Me being a customer that knows what I want. Nothing pisses me off more than going to get a service done. Then somebody I'm paying tries to change my mind by telling me I don't need it or shouldn't do it.

I definitely don't want you to get fired, especially for $70, so please do whatever you need too do to keep your job.

You're a service advisor. You did you're job by advising the customer the didn't need something done. If they still want that service regardless of your advice, then do it. The customer is always right, and if they want something done early, then so be it.

Good for you. Always looking for an honest service advisor for our Toyota. Used to take it to John Elway Toyota then our advisor jumped ship. Han't been the same there since.

Play dumb and document everything you can including notes on conversations, names dates and times, the customer data etc.

It is illegal to doc pay you have earned for not selling a product. Once you have your packet of info you can fuck them if you are fired or fuck them later if you want. Just suck it up while you look for a reputable place to work. Personally I would want to have another job lined up and quit vs being let go.

Right Toyota in Scottsdale is like that. I sat in the waiting room and watched those fucker go to work on old ladies like taking candy from babies. Bell Road Toyota is awesome and 180 in contrast.

Most importantly here...

Do you really wanna fuck with Bill??? If he gets fired cause of you, your gonnna have to watch your back the rest of your life! Worth it? I'm think'n not. :p

Second...

Just do what they want you to do. I know your on commission, but they are paying you, and providing you a decent place to work. (they call the shots, not you)

I know if i had the choice, I'd be stoked working for Bill. He's one of the best bosses I've ever had. :thumbsup

Third...

Stay with the mom and pop store however you can. Sonic just decided there will be no more holidays! I called my old shop forman too see what he was doing on the 4th of july, and he was at fucking work!!!!!!!!

Mark Siepel once told me, "we are in the service industry, and our jobs are to serve". Basicly, it's as simple as that.

Do what you have to do and stay working for Bill. In the long run, it will be worth it.

Three sides to every story. ;)

Ya I'm a little confused. I know shocker there. But a customer comes in for a service, but they're a little early. And he won't service it? Makes no sense to me. Advise customer that it's not time and if they insist on it then do it. Was it a free service or was the customer paying for this?

She wanted to do a 45k service which is oil change, air filter, battery service, rotation and brake inspect. she was at 40k which is oil change, rotation, and brake inspect. I have her service history. I advised her she does not need it yet, next 5k she would need it. So when she paid she wanted the rest done. So had it done and charged her the extra 70$. it took the tech 20 more minutes. she felt that wasen't long enogh so the dealer gave her the 70.

This is why I fucking hate people and y im such an asshole sometimes. One of the guys I work with is not an american citizen but is a resident alien and his background check came back with plenty of trail to follow. Took this guy 7 years to come here legaly. There was a stranded old couple that he just happened to park next to on his lunch break. The hood was up and he didnt pay them any nevermind. He had his lunch and talked to the old man and offered to tow the guy to his house 10miles or so away for free on his lunch break. (nice right) (no tip either) kid does the tow & the old man and him were exchanging pleasantries and the old man asks about his status in the US (kid speaks good english but heavy accented) he told the old man about his trails and tribulations and that he had a green card and was working on his citizenship and was having to save alot of money for it. Tow is done and is headed back to the yard. As hes driving into the gate I answer the phone in the office with someone complaing about a tow he recieved and bad mouthed the company I work for cause according to him we hired illegal immigrants and how dare us. I fucking hate ungrateful people. I dont do many favors anymore cause of shit like this its not worth the head ache.

U just did! LOL:p

I try to lay low. I don't mind helping people out but when the neighbors find out I end up with cars lined up in front of my house.

Then there's always the Mr. know it all that thinks I don't know shit because I work for the dealer.

I get a good chuckle to watch those type work on their cars. :rotflmao:

Things are great here. After a nasty spring, we've had a really nice summer. Ideal weather, really. Fall is less than 3 weeks away now. Yes, that's real.

:D

Have a good one, bud. :)

Im on your side duramax, your job is to know whats best for the customers car. Although the extra 70 for 20 additional mins seems somewhat steep

$70 took 20 minutes... Coming back again in 5k miles would have cost her a day. Lol sounds to me like you did her a favor by doing the service , per her request, early.

That's what the customer wanted in the first place.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I've asked for service prematurely so that I don't have to come back later.
I don't mean to sound like a dick, but it doesn't seem like should have been an issue?

You still get the car serviced in 5k miles. So you have to come back any ways

I applaud you for sticking to your guns but lets face it, you're in the business of serving and making your customers happy. If she wants a certain item serviced before its necessary there should be no questioning it. Just do it.

If you would have done the 45,000 mile service like the customer wanted when arriving at the dealer. Would the customer still have complained about the cost? I think when the requested service was not done at check out you and the dealership had just lost the customers trust. At that point you and the dealership are incompetent in her mind, and anything you do is perceived as trying to take advantage of her.

Maybe a little more training is in order:D
