We've been renting the house out to SB's for the last 13 years but this year my PM hasn't been able to rent it. She told me that inquiries are way down. Anyone else have this issue and is this what others are experiencing?

We had little activity with our property management team getting any bites too. I believe they were doing a good job getting it advertised but no activity.

Ended up doing a 3 month minimum on Airbnb and got it rented fairly quickly at a higher return but of course, we will have to deal with any issues if they come up. Might be worth a shot .

Maybe gas prices has something to do with it? Or y’all are charging an arm and a leg like it’s Covid

Supposedly the park we are in in Parker is sold out for the season . We are the cheapest in the region so that might help

We considered renting ours this year but I didn’t end up pulling the trigger like going out in the winter too much now. Was thinking about maybe a Jan- Mar snowbird rental anybody had any luck renting to snowbirds for that shorter period ?

The snowbird generation is getting old and dying off. Fewer every year. The younger generation does not have the means or desire to retire and travel.
I don't know if the baby boomers are dieing off, the oldest are in their late 70's at this point. If there is truly a slow down in Snow Birds it probably has more to do with their fixed incomes and inflation, making semi annual pilgrimages to warm climates uneconomic.

You are correct, economy is not helping them. Many of my snowbird customers have passed in the last few years. Several are too old to make the pilgrimage anymore. It is sad when they would come and say goodby in the spring, and tell me it was there last season traveling. I personally have not seen younger replacements come along.

We've been at Islander for three years for winter now. Every year about 3-4 couples don't return for health reasons. They don't seem to get replaced with long-term younger people like us. I'm already hearing of the first couple not coming back due to health this year.

Also the exchange rate, U.S. to Canadian makes a big difference. When our dollar is up ( or theirs is down ) it takes away their spending power. I would guess in Quartzite, Blythe & Parker they make up 25% or more of the winter visitors.

Our havasu house is not rented yet. Neither is our slip at the marina. The marina told us that the demand is low and most likely our slip will not be rented out. So there goes saving money in the winter time.

Yeah, they are here alright. Seeing significantly more northern tier state license plates than just a few weeks ago.
Came across an elder couple walking their 4 dogs this morning.....4 Huskies with enough fur to make them look the size of bears.....which they could barely manage to hold back from our pup.
Yup, those are 100% not local dogs or humans.😂🤣

On a similar note. I saw an article that said the VRBO market is down 50% in havasu. Maybe market flooded?
I'd say Bidenflation has a lot more to do with people not traveling than market saturation. Let's face it. Since January, 2021 gasoline is approximately 3X more, food is up 75%, real estate rental costs are up 25%, and the list goes on. One of the first things people cut back on during a recession is travel and entertainment. We are in a recession even though the communist media outlets say were in the most robust economy in history, lol.

We had (2) sets of snowbirds rent our home last winter at different times, with probably 5 or 6 more inquiries. This year we have (1) set returning for 2 months and zero inquiries so far. The atmosphere has drastically changed in my opinion!

I think you are right. As much as we all try and push forward, these gas prices/interest rates/food costs are making many people rethink their plans. The tide has gone out and we’re gonna see who has been swimming naked.

Our 14 year repeat snowbird has finally aged out & isn't coming this year. We did meet some people in Vegas this summer who will be renting it instead for a bit. However, we are planning to use it more in winter than we have before.

I think the times are changing. The new snowbirds are not staying in one place as long and doing other things like cruise ships.

Well, as soon as I comment property manager has inquiry. Wanna bring a dog though, so we'll see. Maybe require a mandatory carpet shampoo upon exit. PM says inquiries are definitely down though. Price is fair. They have many others that are smaller for the same price or higher.
