o, I'm thinking of buying a 4 person ish hot tub. 220/240V only. Reading the reviews i'm not sure i want to be bothered. On the other hand, it sure would be nice to have...

We're going to need some clarification on this one.

240v gets you 8 degrees per hour of temp rise. 120v gets you 3-4 degrees per hour, maybe

120v won't maintain temp with the cover open or off. 240v will.
I have a 240V tub, and I don’t get 8 degrees per hour, more like 3-4 when initially heating a new fill. The issue is the wattage of the heater, and a lot of manufacturers are putting smaller heaters in now, as they’ve improved the insulation to hold the heat. The result is lower operating cost. My Bullfrog does maintain temperature with the cover removed when it’s in the 30’s outside. I haven’t tried it when it’s colder than that.

We just bought a new one last year, and it had a load center with 30 amp and 20 amp breakers.

When the guys showed up to do the install, they told me that the 20 amp circuit is for the heater that runs 24/7, and the 30 amp wa for the jets.

I have changed the water a few times, and I've got to say that every time I do the water coming out of that little 20 amp heater is really freaking hot.

I had a Sundance for 15 plus years with minor issues. Get the lounge.

Maybe you should have bought the super bonus heater option for your swimming pool when you had the chance?

We had a Jacuzzi for years. Only needed the recirculating pump replaced when we owned it. Biggest issue was finding qualified service help in Tucson. About five years after we bought it, the dealership was out of business and we started ordering parts on the internet. We moved and would like another hot tub, but concerned about maintenance and qualified service personnel.

Got a Cal Spa last year. It’s been great.

Look for a used one on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. I got a nearly new $5000 one for $800. With a good wheelie cart they aren't that hard to move.

I have a intex inflatable tub and its great but it heats up slowly and once you start the bubbles it will lose some temp.Im in phx and use it in the summer so its definitely warmer to start with too.Keeping cover on as heating it helps though but from 95 and higher it takes longer usualy a degree or 2 an hour at beast

we set it up memorial weekend and keep til sept then put away for winter

hot springs ,marquis, sundance...

Look for used. The only good deal i got back in 2006 was buying a barely used spa from a guy that lost his house. MSRP was 10K plus and i think i paid $2500.

Still works.

I got one that works that's at my rental house next door. Interior probably needs a good cleaning and maybe a new soft hose or clamp tightened underneath, something down there weeps a bit. The red-wood wood surround may not completely survive a move intact because I'm not a professional hot tub mover, but I can load it on your flatbed trailer with a forklift. I either give it away or pay $85 to drop it at the dump. Located in Menifee.
