I watch the #'s on RDP, but also a lot of other websites to track how we are doing in the Industry, and make sure we are constantly growing etc..

In April I posted that March we had tied our highest number ever of around 75,000 unique IP's a month and it was pre-season. Years in the past we had gone from basically zero up to hovering 60-70,000 with a spike here and there.

My goal for the Summer of 2018 was to get over 100,000 people a month on RDP. Right now we are at 93,241 in the last 30 days. :)

I realize it means jack shit to a lot of people on here, but for a forum owner this is the litmus test and tells you basically how your site is doing, health etc.. It's also good for the advertisers to know that their things are being seen etc..

Anyhow, this pretty much made my whole week to see the increase happening this fast.. And while most thing I sit around and drink beers all day and go on vacations.. There's a little more to running a successful forum, then just that. ;) :D The late nights are payin off! RDP just smashed it's own records, buy a long shot.

Congratulations!

@RiverDave when it says "new user" (blue on the piechart) is that somebody who has never been here before or is it anybody that is not logged in as a member?

In other words are the "lurkers" that return again and again to visit included in the new user count?

a new user is someone that is visiting your site on a particular device. return is someone that has visited your site on the same device in the last 2 years. if i visit the site on my work computer, my phone, and my home computer, thats treated as 3 separate users. users have sessions which is how many times they've visited the site for that reporting period.

this report is for one month, 93k unique people, with 258k unique sessions this month theres 2.77 sessions so people initiate a session and come back 2.77 times in a month. (93,000 * 2.77 = 258k) during that month they click on avg 8 times spending an avg 10 minutes per session. 35% of the users leave without clicking anything.

How long or how many visits is a particular device considered new?

when you visit a site with google analytics you are assigned a "cookie" and that cookie is set to expire in 2 years. assuming you keep the same device and dont clear your browsers cookies for that long it gets refreshed each visit.

Just curious if you've ever thought of RDP to be a "brand" per say and provide such metrics as these and offer promotional services to surrounding businesses to promote their business by hosting an event there? ie a shop with a particular group buy, restaurant with a "RDP night" etc.

Does that take into account Tapatalk visitors also, or just visitors to the dot com site?

To tell you the truth I am not sure. I believe it does remember lurkers IP’s.. but I wouldn’t know what the equation is on that. I.E. it looks at an IP or a lurker and they leave. They come back in two days are they considered return or new? Or a week or month or year etc? I’ll have to dig into that.

The stats I’m primarily concerned with our the unique IP’s pages are page depth and then time on site.

The thought has been brought to the table many times of opening a Bar in Parker or LHC.. I have had people drive all around looking for it more often then you think.

Twice in the last week I have had people walk up to me and tell me "I have heard of that place, but can't find it.. What is it?"

We don't really get into the metrics when we want to have an event.. We just do them. But yes eventually I'd like to really start "branding" RDP. I want to get board shorts made like a certain pair that I have, and start selling them all over the place etc..

Honestly I'm not sure on that either.. That would be a kaotyk question.. Because Tapatalk does host a lot of their content on their own servers I'm not sure if it counts or not? We had to disable picture hosting on TT on here.

My main things are Unique IP's / Time on Site & Depth.

Congrats Dave, you’ve accomplished a lot over the years and your RDP brand is clearly a force. The important questions include what are you going to do with it? (Other than sell it!)

Tapatalk only currently offers custom GA id's on rebranded premium packages. Not sure if RDP has a tapatalk plan or not. I dont really use it.

Honestly with how big the site is I'm surprised you dont have your own app. Vbulletin offers it.

VBulletin sucks ass.. Which is why we moved onto XenForo. That app sucks ass too for VB by the way.. (At least it did when I had it)

Speaking honestly?

Dedicate some time and $$ towards technology. Building up a real deal classifieds system on RDP, and a real deal event registration system. I'm going to double down on the classified system to a separate functionality of a RE MLS system for affiliate Realtors that I have vetted. I'm going to incrementally raise advertising prices to reflect modern day traffic / tracking. Implement technologies for "forms" where we can have insurance quotes / lending quotes go directly through the website to our approved people. Continue to create / grow the newsletter into a separate platform all together with independent ad revenue. Leverage the community #'s into (hopefully) one of the most powerful RE tools in mohave county (and Southern California Markets).. And live my life / drink beer / be merry. :D That's kind of the plan for the next few months anyways..

Or were you talking long term? :D

I will ask again about becoming an affiliate realtor that has been “vetted”

What ever happened to the RDP App?

I would think if your trying to grow your membership numbers that would be the best avenue?

Don't buy a bar. Everyone wants to own a bar. It always sounds like the best idea in the world until you do it realize it's a shit load of work with shitty hours and doesn't make any money.

I will take a pair of RDP board shorts though.
