Am I missing something? Is this a gadget that would actually work?
What happens if the hole in the wall for the duct is in a different location and not signed up perfectly with the dryer outlet?
Same here. They keep making the damn washers / dryers deeper and deeper......my new units barely fit in the alcove! That’s a good idea for some applications.
On Mine I had to use a sheet metal plenum.
I'm not, but my area for the washer/dryer is tight and I won't use a long run of flex hose so lining it up was a bitch. I think with this I could use shorter tubes to get the dryer to set in deeper. As it is, using nothing but 2 elbows to get it to line up and a short pipe in between, my dryer sticks out further than the washer. Ascetically it drives me nuts. Functionally, it interferes with the entrance from the garage. I think this would allow for a shorter elbow in that the slip on part wouldn't be needed, just butt it up against it. But it's a project for another day.Why are you disconnecting your dryer often?
No shit. And my dryer vent is on the bottom. Wall stub is on top. Had to cut the stub out flat to get the plenum on the wall. Now I have about 1/2” clearance to open the door.Same here. They keep making the damn washers / dryers deeper and deeper......my new units barely fit in the alcove!
Murphys law also dictates that the dryer vent connection ends up on the wrong side that you need with locating a pair of front-loaders. I guess everyone had washers on the right and dryers on the left up till the 2000's lol
You really should clean out the duct regularly. My dryer vent has less than a 10' verticle run and within a few years the 4" duct was constricted with lint to barely 2 inches. Took way longer for clothes to dry.....plus it's a fire hazard. The Lint screens are far from 100% effective. Why are you disconnecting your dryer often?
this right here ^^^^ a general maintenance item always overlooked. You really should clean out the duct regularly. For a stackable washer and dryer?
It was the water heater closet that was abandoned previously. No window. Last one I installed I had a hell of a time with the vent. So this one I left that access. It's a linen cabinet on backside. I will make a removable cover so you can't see back of units through the linen. For a stackable washer and dryer?
Do they normally have a window in the back?
Not a good idea. Lots of moisture and lint.Mine just vents in the garage. Keeps it warm during the winter and technically saves $ not having to heat up the space.
