28 eagles. I read that some were made in havasu and are not the best quality. Can you tell me the years? Also balsa coring was 3/4 up the sides on the 30 but not the 28, any truth to that?
Thx.

You mean the years (early) they had bolster seats tearing out of the floors due lo quality coring in the floors?

Don’t know about some being made in Havasu or not, but there was a rumor some were layed up in Mexico… I’ve never been able to verify if there’s any truth to it or not. Mines 27 years old and has some gel defects in it and some layup marks from bulkheads you can see if you look close. But still very solid, and runs true. Mine will run low 80’s.

It does have balsa only part way up the sides.

If your in Havasu, I’m here all week and your welcome to take a look at it.

The Mexico shop was pre Eagle line so none were made down there.

I don’t really remember what years, or if the 28 was even over there?
The 25 and 26 were in Havasu and the first gen 25 Daytona.

As far as the balsa they were half way up on the 28 and I believe all the way up on the 30 and larger.

Mine has a custom built 555” engine. Makes 650 at 5500.

We’re staying at London Bridge all week, but I just dropped the boat off at So Cal speed and marine. Got a steering ram leaking. Your more than welcome to go climb through it.. hopefully we’ll be back on the water tomorrow afternoon.

I'll try and dig up some pictures later but in a nutshell here's what happened. Bought a brand new 2003 26' Eagle. The first thing that happened was the gel coat or whatever coating they put in the engine bay starting popping off in 6" chunks within a couple weeks. They fixed it but it happened again immediately. Then one day on Tahoe the boat essentially started breaking apart. We would hit a wave and the deck, floor and hull would all move in different directions. It was actually pretty freaking scary. To the credit of Bob Leach, he stepped up and built me a new boat at no charge. First time out in the new 26' the transom cracked and not in a good way. It was at that point they were going to build me another one but instead I stepped up at that point and bought my 28' Daytona at heavily discounted price thanks to Bob. Both 26's were built in Havasu.

We had a mid 90’s 28 Eagle (95 or 96 iirc). Old enough that it was non-step. I don’t know if it was built in Havasu but it sure as heck was fixed up by Mac and the boys out in Havasu. They did a great job on it and really updated the exterior and interior.

As we bought it used from a guy out in Havasu (total dumpster fire) we don’t know the origin story, but I can tell you there must be some questionable boat shops in Havasu that worked on it at some point after Eliminator but before we bought it.

Case in point, whomever installed the stereo system lag screwed wires and components right through the hull. A definite WTF moment.

I highly doubt it was Eliminator, Mac was pretty on top of that shop. That doesn’t preclude them from having issues with temps or humidity in the glass curing process however.

I never knew they had a Mexico shop. What was the story with that? Lower production costs and less govt regulations I assume? I also assume it didn't work out as expected?

Were all the 250 eagles manufactured in havasu or just certain years? What about the 236’s?

Don't believe they were all manufactured in Havasu. When we bought our 08 236 which was actually late 07, we were asked if we would like it built in Havasu, but because we were still in Ca. full time, we chose Mira Loma. Also, our salesman Mike said he would be able to watch that it got all the mods we were seeking. If Mike was aware of any problems with the Havasu manufacturing, he didn't let on, but it was logical for us to build in Mira Loma, because we wanted to watch the progress as well. I don't abuse my boat, but the hull and gel have had no problems whatsoever and haven't really heard of any 250 problems either. BTW I'm pretty sure our 236 is the last one built.:(
