Dirtbag and I have been going over dates...

How does the weekend of September 8th work for everyone?

If this works, I can start by calling the Nautical to get a block of rooms set up. I will just have to get a rough count on rooms. (I understand some of you have houses in town)

That's the weekend after Labor Day weekend. Might be tough for people who have already planned on going to the river for Labor Day to go two weekends in a row...

Thought about that, too. Maybe the 15th might be better?

Just incase, the weather in October is still real nice too. Hopefully we can do it before then, but that could be an option maybe.

A lot of people go out for Columbus Day Weekend because some people have that Monday off. That weekend is Oct 6-9... I usually go that weekend with several other Shockwave people anyway...

Last year it was Oct. 14-15.. tried looking up the dates for this year and couldn't find anything. Late August is still 110+ degrees, but if the beer is cold, I guess it doesn't matter :thumbsup

Sorry guys, work was insane today, but I had some time to think about the schedule.

I know some, if not most of you will have the challenge of kids going back to school in late August and early September, so I was leaning more towards middle to end of September. This will do two things: 1) let you get back into the swing of school and 2) free up hotels and restaurants for all of us. I was also thinking October as well since it's one of my favorite times of the year out there, but there is always the battle of wind. I am still open to October if you guys would rather, but just giving a precaution.

With all of that in mind, if we can come to a loose agreement on middle of September, I was thinking about starting to plan the weekend for September 15-17.

My thoughts from reading what you all were suggesting, it sounds like we would all like to do a breakfast run on Saturday. North or South we can figure out, but this will decide where we head for the rest of the day (I.e. Pirates, Sandbar vs. The Channel or??)

I'm thinking Saturday night meet up for dinner and some drinks at Javelinas. Would everyone be up for that? Or Heat, The Turtle.... suggestions?

Then that just leaves Sunday. Not sure how many of you will be sticking around, but we would more than likely plan on heading either north or south (whichever we didn't do Saturday) for some breakfast and bloodies. Then do a cruise and float. I'm not sure if we would be out until Monday, so Sunday is still up in the air. If you guys would rather make a full day of Sunday, then let's plan that out too.

Sorry for rambling, but just trying to figure out a rough idea for the 2017 Shockwave Notta-Regatta!!

Hmm, not sure if I could pull off staying all day Sunday. I might have to head home. Lmao

LOL Smartass

Hahaha. It sounds real good so far Scott.
Sunday might be a good channel day if people wanna do the channel. Maybe a little less crowded and more room for the group.

I agree with Tlaw about Sunday and the channel. Maybe Saturday do breakfast at Topock (maybe call the restaurant and give them a tentative headcount a few weeks out) and then hang in the channel at Pirates or head to the sandbar (depending on wind and what the group wants to do) but I think hanging at Pirates for a bit on Saturday would be good. It would give a chance for people to get boat rides in the different boats that will be there for the people who are thinking about making a change from a Vee to a Deck or vice versa... Several new boats will probably be there including RDMRob's 28 deck, Dirtbag's Deck, Sbarry's 22 Deck, and probably a new Tremor or two.. And let's try and lock in a date ASAP so that people can make the necessary arrangements.

Just got word from another Shockwave owner who is trying to become a member but is having some difficulties, he said "The weekend of the 15th probably best for me but I should be able to make anything work except the sept 29th- oct 2nd weekend."

I just wanted to pass that along to add him to the list

If there are no objections by the end of the day, let's shoot for September 15-17. Cool?

Thanks Mike. I'm finally able to post. Count me in for the weekend of the 15th. It should be a good time!

Although sometimes it seems like Pirates becomes an impromptu Shockwave Regata, I've been waiting for a more "official" one to happen.

That would be awesome!

I'm wondering if we should have guys verify their names aren't on the list twice. (I.e. Facebook name vs. RDP screen name, etc.)

Yes sir... at this point, that is the unofficially official date. [emoji1360]

I'm thinking Friday and Monday off for me.

If I'm taking a three-day, I always lean toward taking Monday off. Sundays on the water are hard to beat.... Mondays are even harder.

I just learned that the Howard regatta is probably the same weekend as our "unofficial" regatta. Just a heads up for hotels, restaurants, etc...

Hopefully I can make it... Pencil me and another 22 deck in (not a member on here). I will know more in a few weeks if we can both squeeze it in.

Mike, where'd you hear this? That does kinda screw with hotels a little. They usually take over the Nautical pretty well. I was planning to call the Nautical today to see about getting a block of rooms, so I will ask when I call.

Checked rooms last night at the Nautical for that weekend, and they were around $100 per night, so something tells me they haven't been informed yet or their rates would be higher, me thinks!

c'mon man... You gotta get off the lower river at some point so we can run my little small block against your built LSA. Apparently I'm a glutten for punishment. HAHA :p

Hahahaha. We usually make at least one trip a year up to Hav, l was just WAY to busy last summer with work and kids to fit it in. So far looking like that weekend works.

Correct, September 15-17 is the Howard Regatta at the Nautical.

We should start a thread with all the different events for the summer so I can create some kinda calendar.. This is one of the hardest things about planning our 10 year party is picking the date... and then finding a spot that can host 200'ish boats?

Minus the fact that hotels may be harder to get rooms at. I personally don't see any reason we can't have ours the same weekend. It just means we'll have to make sure we come out represent and outnumber the Howard folks...

Heck yes! I feel the same way... but I know they typically take up dang near all of the cove parking at the Nautical - just means we gotta be faster at reserving. [emoji1360]
