H1N1 had a mortality rate of .02%. Influenza is .1%. This shit is hovering above 3%, a mortality rate 150 times that of H1N1.

That seems to be the basis for concern by the government in wanting to limit spread. That combined with limited testing ability in America compared to other countries where testing is widely available.

This chart is also something that is being taken into consideration by public health officials.

No reason to panic, but it seems rational to implement some caution.

As of right now only the worst cases are being tested. That mortality rare will drop drastically once testing is more widespread. That is common on all epidemic/pandemic situations.

ABC news was showing mass burial pits in Iran. Couldn’t find a current video link but it’s massive. They went into the morgues with hidden cameras it’s way deadlier than reported.

Both of those countries have pretty damn shitty healthcare systems (obviously Italy's is better than Iran, but still nowhere near great outside of major cities). I'd be more concerned if other 1st world countries with good healthcare systems are experiencing these huge death rates.

I just mentioned in another thread when my mother was in emergency two years ago with pneumonia. Two emergency room doctors tried talking my dad out of treatment, they basically didn't care if she lived or died. Hence why with my mothers COPD, my family is taking this more serious. Doing more to make sure she doesn't get the virus. We are sure, she'd be in the let die camp when our hospitals are overrun.

Mt. Bachelor (Bend, OR) closed from March 15 - 22...to assess the situation. I’m guessing it will be extended. That will be a huge blow to the local economy. So bummed as we just got fresh snow, kids are out of school, and I’m working remote.
