Wants to load his house stuff in one and move? The issue with this is the chassis, as they are supplied the port.

If you think you are going to suck it up on a flat bed, then be prepared for everything to shift.....

Good point. But don’t they do the same with pods?

I can send a truck but don’t have anyway to load or unload them. I can take two 30 feet or smaller but not 40
I will keep you mind. But that’s going to require a crane at both locations. That won’t be cheap.

When my buddy moved from here to Wisconsin, he bought a van trailer. Big, 53ft monster. He had one friend he knew haul it to his home here from Phoenix. When he had it loaded, hired a guy to make the run. When he was done, he pulled the chassis from the rear, and is now using it as a storage garage. He paid about 4k for it, but the tires were good and brakes seemed good. Problem is, need a good bit of property to park on when loading.

Buy an enclosed trailer in CO haul it to California, load your stuff. Drive to CO, offload drive trailer then back to California and sell it 😁

Honestly it would be way cheaper and logistically way better to do the PODS. You can also contact ABF they have a moving division and can assist on things like this. Like others have said you would be looking for chassis only! That is tough you would not find a carrier to Longhaul a chassis only to CO from CA and then back to CA.

He wants to leave the stuff in the container while he builds a house. Containers up there are 1500 more.

Yeah I got that. The purchase is not the issue. Containers are not expensive, but the transportation is definitely the issue. When you look at the container price difference it may not be more when you take in to account the transportation side from CA.

He should check ODFL or ABF. They'll drop an OTR tandem half.

The only problem with that service is that it's tough to load heavy stuff into a dock high trailer from the street, and a lot of those tandem halfs aren't air ride. You have to request one.

He can also talk to a trucking company up there and they may have an extra 53’ trailer that he can have them drop and he can pay for, but that would have to be worked out with a carrier up there if at all possible.
