Almost makes you wonder if there was a mechanical failure with linkages or something?

At least that’s what I hope happened. That could’ve ended up really bad.

Hmmmm,it’s only tax dollars that pay for that kind of damage. At least the crew on the dock didn’t get injured.
Is there not a helicopter for the critical patient rescue?

Usually at the ramp (assuming they have the room) or they run the patient to the helipad at the hospital.

Not to many spots (if any) north of Windsor that both the helicopter and boat can reach.

I’m sure the adrenaline was pumping crazy. I thought he was going to run it up the ramp at first.

Critical patient onboard? who gives a shit....he got to the dock as fast as possible.

No critical patient onboard....that's a different story.

They already had the stretcher on the dock.. so they had someone on board.. still though.. 😳

…Somewhat reminds me of when I was living in Oklahoma… can’t remember the name of the lake, but… girlfriend and I were standing on the shore… When the water Sherriffs boat came in pretty hot… They tried to put the boat in it’s boat barn… Did not work too well… ripped the light bar with all the flashing lights completely off… we kind of simultaneously thought. Oh well???… Gonna take some splannin???…

Those cardiac monitors are 35k and the Stryker garneys are 18k. That's expensive equipment to dunk in the lake, not to mention can't treat the pt without equipment.

"Radio, Boat 069 is on the dock. I mean we are on scene. I meant we are on scene, but also on the dock. Also, please start a second unit for the EMS Personnel we just threw into the water. Boat 069 Over."

The sad fact is if anyone of us on this board had done that , we would be arrested , checked for OUI , handcuffed and taken to jail . Next would be a complete nightmare through the system . This cop should at the very least be suspended and investigated, heck , this is his job , to do things like this for which he’s trained .

Looks like some boat safety training is in this man’s future. He became part of the problem by his personal actions. Rookie.

I’m gonna guess someone in critical condition and a captain with way too much adrenaline to be thinking clearly.

One of the first things you’re taught in EMS is that it’s the patient’s emergency not yours. The way that boat approached my guess is the driver forgot the above.

Good news is that no one else appeared to get hurt/killed.

If this were a civilian boat who called in to 911 to have medics waiting on the ramp I’d hope the driver was sober enough to transport a critical person. Even if you weren’t, minutes count when someone’s bleeding out. DUI or not you’d be saving a life.

He drove that boat like he knew there would be no consequences…….. I am guessing he was the senior officer on scene.

Not as a joke.... my wife's docking is worse normally so we have had the converaation, if I am ever hurt bad enough and she needs to get me help she is to haul ass and slow down just a bit before run lning the boat up the beach or the launch ramp itself.
At that point who cares about a boat.

I hear that. I taught my wife to run the boat. Cruise; off the trailer, on the trailer, easy peasy

One left pirates on left topock and they both boogied through the no wake to get to whatever was going on.

Me personally i think it’s great that he was in a true rush for someone’s kid/mom/dad he misjudged the speed a little, but let’s see what everyone would be saying had he came through the no wake etc at no wake speed and pulled up like gramps in his pontoon to the dock. Misjudged yea, but no shame on him.

I can do high speed docking, successfully, 99 times out of 100.

But it's that 100th time, that the cameras are rolling.

In a 25 minute response, the extra 15 seconds to slow down and dock safely, isn't going to make that big of a difference and would possibly keep others from being injured. Including the patient on the boat.

I always started by telling my trainees "You are no help to the patient if you become a patient yourself"
Friend of mine used to fly Mercy Air. That’s why after an incident they never told crew what they were transporting. Could be typical transfer or life threatening pediatric. All protocols were the same.

He was trying his best to help someone, misjudged a little and I’m sure taught himself a lesson. Nobody else was hurt thankfully. Give the guy a break.

Absolutely agree with post!!! If I was the patient on this boat, I’m hoping he hits the launch ramp full speed gets Hugh air and lands in the hospital parking lot.
