They anticipate, with a good winter, a full pool by summer 2012...:thumbsup

Cool pics! Is that last one of the island with the water ski school? Have not been to Shaver in 10+ years. Would be nice if they took this opportunity to remove some of the, normally, submerged tree trunks and rocks.

Man I really want to head back there with the boat someday.

We'll be refilling Shaver with water from Huntington after the dam lining is complete. Huntington's level is expected to drop such that you can see an old WWII bomber that crash landed there many years ago.

I was pretty amazed at the lack of underwater trash/debris that was visable with the low water conditions. The lake gets a lot of use during the summer, so "props" to the boaters respecting the area.

Prolly most of the valuables had be salvaged already...;)

Do you have an estimated date when HL will be down...maybe spring? Would love to check that out...

The time frame isn't set in stone yet, but at this point it appears as though the refill of Shaver using Huntington water will begin in late November to mid-December. During the spring, we'll want to catch as much runoff in Huntington as possible, so the drain needs to be done before then.

It'll take a while for Huntington to drain, so figure maybe January-February for it to be at the lowest level. Weather and snow permitting, there is a good possibility of seeing something.

Thanks for the info...been wanting to see HL in the winter for a long time, the bomber would be added plus!

Where was that snow pick taken? Did you head up to the Kaiser Pass? We spent a week this summer at Edison Lake. Awesome area:)

Me and my buddies spend a week at Jackass Meadows every year. There was snow at the top of the pass when we went through on Aug 1st.

By chance if you ever get to see it, could you try to take a few photos of it then maybe post them here on this thread?;) Thanks.:)

I can try. I'm usually up there a few times a month. I do try to cut back my trips during the winter though. Snow and I don't like each other very much...

We've got a trip inked for late Feb, hope we're not too late. I'll post up pics if it's accessible...:thumbsup

Refill of Shaver is starting soon. I doubt Huntington will be empty by the end of February, but it should be down quite a bit.

I stopped to take a look at Shaver the week before last. At the bottom you could see the remains of an old sawmill along with a large flywheel they used in it. Apparently they didn't bother to remove it when the lake was created. Just went ahead and filled it up...
