Can't believe the Sharks scored 4 in the 3rd. All the crying about calls. It is what it is. Have to just keep playing.

Vegas could have righted the ship in OT though.

I'm a knights fan, only because they are in vegas and it's a home team...but, everyone is crying about the so called bad call????? by the book, there should have been 2 penalty's making it 5 on 3 for 2 min's and 5 on 4 for the next 3..

It was a horrible call. That was a 2 minute minor for cross checking all day, every day. Especially in the playoffs. That being said, they allowed 4 power play goals in 5 minutes, there’s no excuse for that.

That was crazy 4 goals in 5 mins on that major. Vegas should have had it Sunday then gave the Sharks another chance and a guy with fresh legs beats them in OT.

But, ekan did cross check, so that's 2min, yes it was a normal every game check,... but, you can get called for it,...doing stupid stuff that cause's penalty's in game 7 third period up by 3???? then there was stastny, another cross check to the same guy that was already off balance.... that cause'd the injury... and that a 5 min penality….every body is saying if they could review it???? then if that was the case...eakin in the box for 2, stastny out for 5....I've coached hockey,... when my teams come that unraveled... you gotta cal a time out... and it should have been right when they scored the fist of the four...next...they should have just played the diamond with one guy on top... don't need to score,.. just hold the lead....what I saw was a constant battle to score a short handed goal..which they ended up letting 4 goals scored..

NHL apologized for the bad bad call for the longer than should have been penalty that allowed the Sharks to score 3 in that short time frame. BIG DEAL...it is like I am sorry I screwed up your year...

2 minutes for cross checking turned into a 5 minute major because he was bleeding. Blood =5 minutes. That was the correct call.

correct, but it was the wrong guy, eakin did a minor, and stastny did the major,.... and I might add, as much as the sharks take cheep shots at players, what stastny did was total uncalled for

NHL apologized for the bad bad call for the longer than should have been penalty that allowed the Sharks to score 3 in that short time frame. BIG DEAL...it is like I am sorry I screwed up your year...
Golden Knights owner Bill Foley said an NHL “senior executive” called him Wednesday morning and admitted an error was made by officials in assessing a crucial major penalty to Cody Eakin during Tuesday night’s Game 7 in San Jose.

“They called and basically said it was a bad call, it was a mistake, we recognize the mistake and we acknowledge it,” Foley said. “I did feel a little better after that. It calmed me down.”

Added Knights general manager George McPhee said: “The league did reach out and apologize. They made a mistake and I’m sure (the officials) feel bad about it. They want to get things right like we all do when we’re doing our jobs.”

Foley plans to personally pursue rule changes after the call helped end the Knights’ second season. The Sharks scored four times during the third-period power play and erased a 3-0 deficit, eventually winning 5-4 in overtime and advancing to the second round of the playoffs.

To avoid a similar mistake in the future, Foley said he plans to push to make major penalties as the only other reviewable plays besides goals. As an NHL owner, Foley is one of the league’s board of governors, which can make recommendations for rules changes.

“I believe it should be a reviewable play,” Foley said. “I think that a coach should be able to challenge a major penalty, particularly during the last period of the game and particularly during the playoffs.

“That’s going to be up to the league to make that determination. I believe the league is thinking about it and is going to be receptive to that kind of change.”

The NHL-NHL Players’ Association competition committee meets next during the Stanley Cup Final and the league’s board of governors meets in June. Both organizations must review and approve any rule changes.

“We’ll have a board of governor’s meeting in a couple months and I’m sure it’ll be able to be brought up and we’ll talk about it,” Foley said. “I think that’d be a good solution and — despite the fact that Sharks fans were going crazy over the perceived hit — if it had been a coach’s challenge, if it had been reviewed, it wouldn’t have been a penalty, in my opinion.”

The apology provided little solace to the Knights players still stinging from the stunning conclusion to a promising season.

then there is the other side of the coin....as in if a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there does it make a sound..when watching sports how many times do you see something that the refs don't, and they get away with it....pretty obvious what happened as they never put a hand up, so no one saw what happened ref wise...so, they really did a review,..play was stopped when they had a player down,... when the refs asked what happened... a sharks player said eakin cross checked him in the face and knocked him out...So they pulled eakin….even the announcer said right then... he's gonna get a 5'r....lol... what game was he watching...and as of still... stastny still hasn't been broght up as the one that should have got a 5'r

this was good of Eakin...

Eakin spoke publicly Thursday for the first time since he was called for the penalty.

“It doesn’t change anything,” he said of the apology. “It’s sports. Things happen fast. Calls are made. Calls are not made, missed. These things happen. It’s just the way it goes.

“It (changed) the game a lot. But like I said, that’s sports. … There’s nothing you can really change. Not now, at least.”

Half the team is laying a beach somewhere right now getting drunk. They had a long year. I dont think there are too bothered about the call.

I think Eakin got screwed, what happened after that was the teams fault...looks like they wanted to go to the beach instead of Colorado: :D

I'm not an NHL fan but my good buddy posted this today. He is the play by play voice for the Colorado Avalanche.

Calls happen. Players gotta deal with it. You give up 4 goals on PK. That doesn’t happen in pee wee hockey. Players gotta play.
And why didn’t the coach use his time out to settle the game down? He choked as well. Like the Russian coach in the final game of “Miracle” He didn’t know what to do.
Couple games earlier Couture got 2 teeth knocked out with a high stick. Sharks got a 2 minute PP. Could have been 5. Why wasn’t that brought up by those that want to whine about calls?

If you want to complain about a bad call, lets go back to the non call on New England. That cost the Rams the Super Bowel. Vegas, by not skating, cost themselves the victory over the Sharks.
The NHL would love to have had Vegas in the finals. It would have been very good for the TV ratings. Vegas vs Boston, kind of like LA vs New England in the Super Bowel.

Stastny was incidental contact, he was just going that way and ran into him after he was cross checked off the face off, which happens ALL the time. Plus one thing to consider, it was Joe Pavelski. I love the guy but they call him “Little Joe” for a reason. I still stand by my opinion it was a 2-minute minor for cross checking. There wasn’t even a penalty called until long after he was laying there bleeding. They made it up. Team Captain laid out on home ice in a game 7.

You bloody up the team captain cheap shot or not and bad enough to send him to the locker room, most of the time that team turns there emotion into scoring goals. Couture of the Sharks rode that emotion and might of had his best 3.5 minutes of play in his career so far. Ole rat face got the Sharts going. Vegas chocked Botton line. You cant be up 3-1 in a series, then let 3 goals get scored in a 5 minute major and expect to win a series. It's just like back in 2012 when Bernier of the Devils gave a cheap shot to Rob Scuderi of the LA Kings, bloody him up, 5 minute major and the Kings scored three and went on two win the cup in that series.

There's no better time to enjoy sports then play off Hockey. Go Canes...

Bad Call, it changed the dynamic of the game, the Sharks don't play good when they are frustrated and Vegas had this game in the bag. Vegas is a better team IMO but it is what it is. I'm rooting for the Islanders at this point. GKG!
