Hope it is not true, but I was on a Zoom call today with someone who had just returned from Vegas, and they said a few things:

F1 has wrecked the roads with construction and made traffic a bitch. (confirmed above).

Hotel Hospitality workers are considering a strike.

And Bed Bug break out.

Does anyone confirm the bedbugs are on a roll in Vegas or the Hospitality Union Strike threat?
StrIke = Yes.
Some food service unions are already striking

Bed bugs = yep. Huge outbreak. Don‘t put any luggage on floor or bed. Leave on suitcase rack or desk in room. Check mattress

Great, all we are missing is COVID-19 to make it a perfect SEMA trifecta. Oh, wait, rest assured that SEMA will be a petri dish of Asian goodness from all the knockoff vendors coming over to trade infection for developmental ideas. (Read copy innovation.) Would you like to buy off-road lights? Let me touch you with my sweaty breath and share my Kung Flu.

Will I look like a socialist in my hazmat suit?

Sportin' Wood likes SEMA. LOL

Lol, I was there when sema shut down a Chinese knock off manufacturer's booth and kicked out the employees for copying product.

We all went to the new product unveil on Wednesday night, I had to run back for a folder when sema officials were escorting the guys out. The cameras and paper templates were still on the floor from where these guys were doing exact copies of new products in booths in the south hall.

I have 2 tickets at will call for me.
Where is the main entrance ?
Trying to figure put where I need to go to get the tickets
Last year, credentials and check in were at the south end of the south hall. I, of course, had no idea and parked someplace about 4 miles away.

Side question if I may.....
What are the... ??2?? hotels attached to the Sphere ?
We're considering U2 in Jan
TIA
Jim
The Sphere is attached to the Venitian Hotel. You walk through the Venitian when you exit the Sphere.

Did anybody catch the Cummins swapped Lambo? I watched them build it on a TV show months back. It's impressive seeing what it came from to what it is now. Sometimes I get a little bored seeing all the regular stuff being built.

Ha Ha, that's my truck in the foreground in your second photo. White Colorado.

Survived another SEMA, no bedbugs, hospitality workers strikes, or traffic problems. I'm going to skip PRI, so that is a wrap on my 2023 Trade show schedule.

Walked to and from the show from Flamingo Hilton Grand Resorts to avoid the shit show monorail. It was actually a rather nice walk.

Attendance seemed down to me, but I'm sure it was well attended ( I'm just being pessimistic). Witnessed blatant Chinese knock-off activity multiple times.

Two days is more than enough for me. had a fantastic meal last night at Camichels. Ran into a bunch of old friends, I'm going to reserve judgment until I see our lead report, but booth traffic was about normal. It still never amazes me that the people who attend a trade show walk into your booth and proceed to try and sell you something. I'm not nice anymore, and tell them to beat it.

The gap between builds is getting wider. There were some extremely well-crafted art pieces inside the halls. There are a couple of incredible off-road vehicles outside, but for the most part, the stuff in the parking lots is bolt-on and basic. However, I stumbled on an exceptional crew cab dent side Ford that looked better than the day it rolled off the assembly line and deserved a much better location. That was my favorite truck of the show.

I went to Sema a few years in the early 2010s. There sure was some "talent" at the booths back then. Where are those pics 😆 🤷‍♂️

That's usually in the bottom floor of the south hall where the wheel and tire manufacturers are

Ok Saturday recap.
We stayed at the NYNY the shuttle busses went really well 👍🏻
The show had good attendance and I was able to see some good new products. Pricing is a tough evaluation since everything is fooked right now with the interest and inflation. some decent deals were made not too terrible.
As for the builds i feel they are getting better than the last five years less stickers and more refined builds. Here are my favs
