What DVR are you guys using? Are you happy with it or would you have rather gotten a different one?

I need to be able to log in with my phone

Look at Wyse.com
Buy a couple of their cameras to play with. Lets you think about viewing angle , lighting etc. Also, cloud storage and local device. Prices were under $25 and up. I decided I didn’t need a full system.

I prefer to have a system that does NOT record offsite aka "the cloud". If I need to break out the backhoe., I don't want my own camera ratting me out.

IMO Cameras that record to a sim card that are out of reach are the way to go. When needed a smack with the shovel... and it never happened!😉

I should add I already have a sawin hard wired system that the DVR took a shit after 18mo. So I'm looking at bringing that system back up but I don't trust their DVR, we had several problems over that 18mos with the DVR

Second this, but it is WYZE. They have a 2k and new 2.5k camera. Both are extremely solid. I sent the 2.5k back only because it didn’t match the other 2k cameras I had (slightly different look) and I didn’t want to have mismatched ones. For the price point, and the cost of a SD card, absolute no brainer for me.

Yes. Yiu can view thru the phone app
I run something like this (but older)

GNCC Outdoor Camera, 2K Cameras for Home Security Outside, Home Security Cameras, Motion Detection, Night Vision, 24/7 Recording, 2 Way Audio, Waterproof, Cloud & Local, Plug-in, APP Control https://a.co/d/iKsGhFX

Going to upgrade to something along these lines soon. DEKCO 2K Security Camera Outdoor 2Packs, WiFi Outdoor Security Cameras Pan-Tilt 360° View, 3MP Surveillance Cameras with Motion Detection and Siren, 2-Way Audio, Full Color Night Vision, Waterproof https://a.co/d/2BwOaIv

Unless you can get a clear license plate, and identifiable face shot. All you can really do is watch your shit get stolen. No need to break the bank unless you are going full on cameras everywhere.

I’d say Unifi is one of the most polished consumer system and their camera choices are pretty good as well. 👍

I’d call it prosumer level, there are guys selling it commercially.

I have the CCTV Security Pros system. DVR I has 8tb hard drives with 24 cameras expandable to 32 all hardwired. Use their app on my phone for remote viewing. Not cheap and very please with it.

Just curious how many of these systems have the resolution to read license plates. We had a break-in during the day in our neighborhood and none of the security cameras in use could read the plates. A couple of guys broke in to one house and the others drove around until the two were done. What about at night?

That's just it, unfortunately if you can't ldentify them then all yore getting out of a surveillance system is watching someone take your stuff...

I did exactly this.
Cameras work pretty darn good for $25.
I've got a pair outside that have seen -40f over 2 winters - and they kept on working fine. Don't ask me how. 😊

I just spent 2 hours searching for a license plate on a day laborer who took half my neighborhood for $thousands of bucks, but can't read his plate. My next system will be better than my ADT crap I now have.

Until you get into the American made systems, more$$, most brands are made by hickvision. Hunt cctv is kind of their generic brand. installed several over the years, still working well. They also have support in socal and answer the phone.
