Heartbreaking.

Don’t know the whole story on how the gun was obtain. But, people need to lock their guns and make sure their kid isn’t lingering behind them to see the combo. And, if your kid is having problems like reported above- you may have to make a tough decision to have your guns removed from your home to a trusted friend or family member for the time being. Maybe have one hand gun that the kid has no idea about, but parents need to do more if there are concerns.

Parents aren’t as active and distracted at home maybe?
This is related to a a lot of issues kids face. My mom wants to tell parents all the time- “if I know, and you don’t know, there is the problem.”

This country has been going down the toilet for quite a few years imo. Won’t even get into the politics of it, but sure as hell has a lot to do with it. Getting ready to do extended RV trip just me and Charley the jeep dog. When and where I stop for the night could be a problem, hope not. On that note, besides having a couple of glocks, one in 40 and a small one on 380, a 7 mag Remington, I just purchased a Mossberg 12 gauge 88 with a 18.5 barrel and came with a 28” barrel with a plug to be legal when I “bird hunt”. Sorry state of affairs but have to be prepared. Thoughts and prayers for the deceased. I still think it begins at home and violent vide games are not helping. As a side note, many years ago I got stopped for something, don’t remember what, by a CHP in my semi truck. He asked me if I had a gun in the truck, to which I replied yes. He then asked me if it was loaded. I looked at him and said yes it is, it’s not a club. He laughed and said best answer he has ever heard.

WINDER, Ga. (AP) — The father of a 14-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting four people at a Georgia high school was arrested Thursday and faces charges including second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for letting his son possess a weapon, authorities said.

It’s the latest example of prosecutors holding parents responsible for their children’s actions in school shootings. In April, Michigan parents Jennifer and James Crumbley were the first convicted in a U.S. mass school shooting. They were sentenced to at least 10 years in prison for not securing a firearm at home and acting indifferently to signs of their son’s deteriorating mental health before he killed four students in 2021. Colin Gray, 54, the father of Colt Gray, was charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of cruelty to children, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey said at a news conference.

“His charges are directly connected with the actions of his son and allowing him to possess a weapon,” Hosey said.

In Georgia, second-degree murder means that a person has caused the death of another person while committing second-degree cruelty to children, regardless of intent. It is punishable by 10 to 30 years in prison, while malice murder and felony murder carry a minimum sentence of life. Involuntary manslaughter means that someone unintentionally caused the death of another person.

I guess nothing happens naturally anymore, everything that happens was because "the government"......it was the damn FBI's fault I stubbed my toe this morning, fk those guys, that shit hurt....

I won't derail this thread, but no, not everything has 3 letter involvement. That GPS data would have to be verified like anything else.

I giess this hasn’t been posted yet in this thread but apparently the mother of the shooter has an extensive criminal record.

I’m gonna say it at this point. The three strikes law should be national, and it should include spaying and neutering of criminals to keep them from breeding at the third strike.

No wonder the kids a fuckup!

When I was a kid for most of us it was wonder and excitement about the future, the American dream if you will.
Can't help but feel that has changed for a lot of these kids.
