If you plan on keeping your property for a long time....... go to your closest Deere or Kubota dealer and get a good residential ztr or lawn tractor there.
You'll be able to get parts and service almost forever.
Stamped deck over welded and the reason for that is obvious, some manufacturers fabricate their decks because it's a more cost efficient option over stamping a single piece. Kawasaki is the better of the engines as they usually have cast iron cylinders rather then nikasil cylinders like the cheaper manufacturers. If you're mowing over an acre I would definitely stay away from the big box store mowers. I would suggest a Deere Z540M or Z540R resi Z-turn as you are able to get a 48, 54, or 62 inch deck and a Kawasaki FS engine. They're in the 4-5k range and you'll have a mower that will treat you good for years. Oh and I may be a bit biased as I'm in Deere sales
Looked at everything from a deere to a bad boy to scag to Husqvarna....I bought a gravely...The guy at the store I bought it from is a family friend and he sells husqvarnas, toros, one other brand I can't remember, and obviously gravelys....he told me there's no comparison from any of them to the gravely and for a 60" 24 hp kawi model it was not the most expensive mower in the line up....his reasons included things like gravelys have welded decks not stamped, the blade spindles are steel not cast aluminum, and their financing/rebates/and warranty were far better than the others....I mow just under 3 acres of lawn that I don't manicure like a lot of people so its usually pretty long when I mow it and even down on 1" when the grass is 5" plus I can run wide open fast as she'll go and it mows perfect every time...I put a set of blades on every year as they are 50 bucks for all 3 and I change the oil at the beginning of the year...that's it
A very good friend of mine worked at a scag/bad boy dealer for a few years and swore by both of them..a model similar to my gravely is far more expensive btw...oddly enough he was at my house last week and after a couple beers he said let me try out that fucking gravely...after just 10 mins of mowing severely overgrown grass he came back, parked it, and said holy shit!!! this thing blows bad boy and scag out of the water....no offense to anyone who owns any of the other brands mentioned...this is just my limited experience
And also for what its worth...I'm lazy when it comes to mowing like I said so if theres a branch or twig that falls in the yard...if I can run it over without flipping the damn thing over I do...it makes a crash bang sound and keeps right on rolling....my dad has a deere rider, 62" inch cut bought from a deere dealer....paid far more than I did for mine...he hit a 3/4 inch thick twig last year and broke a spindle...I know specifics because I gave him shit for it all summer hahaha it has the stamped aluminum spindles I mentioned earlier...again deeres are nice machines so no offense but again just my experience
