I live in norco in an area called the bluffs. For 1million you could get everything you want with 1/2 acre or more. My house is 5 bedrooms but I think it’s the biggest model in my area. My area was built by a bunch of different contractors so they are all a little different. I’ll post some Zillow links
It sounds like you’re in my neighborhood, or very close! I’m in Remington Estates near River/Corydon.

If you don’t have to commute than you could get a hell of a nice place in murrieta or Menifee. Have the wife doing classes 3x a week and not in rush hour traffic times. Schools are good. You’re an hour from Oceanside pier so you’d still have the beach. Either way traffic sucks everywhere down here and a million doesn’t go as far as it used to. But definitely take a look at the murrieta/Temecula/Menifee area, it’s not a bad spot for so cal.

Buy something for $1M in Upland instead. Way closer to Claremont (next door).

The 15/91 through Corona to East OC sucks. Tolls will gouge you if you have to get anywhere when there is traffic.
Agreed... we've lived there for the past 3 years and its really nice and a great tempo...close to Claremont and faster tot he beaches. For $700-900k you can get a really nice 4 bd 2/3 bath home...

I would find something within 5 miles of where one of you needs to be everyday or the traffic will drive you to gouge your eyes out with a dull spork. I loathe driving anywhere near corona…

This. I now live and work in Orange. Use to live in Corona and hated the drive.

I will agree with everyone on the traffic, no matter what day it is there is always traffic once you get south of Ontario. I have been in Horsethief Canyon for about 6 years but with your budget I would look into Norco

Crest drive-in!

What about Corona Raceway!

We moved from Bellflower to Norco in 1970. Wifey and I were just talking about this. You had limited fast-food choices in Norco back then...Tastee Freeze, Scotty's Fish Fry and Carl Jr. You had to drive down into Corona to Jack in the Box.

The Security Pacific bank robbery...wild.
C’mon, first on the list should have been Nip-N-Sip for lunch!!!

I’ll also say this. I don’t like traffic, no one does. I take the 91 to the 5 every day. 30 miles. Since covid traffic really is a lot better. In the morning I leave at 4 and im in Buena Park at the gym by 430. I get out of work at 430 and I’m home everyday between 515 and 530. The shitty part is I use the fastrack everyday so that’s like 90 a week, but I drive an electric car so I’m not paying for gas. It’s really not that bad. In a couple years I’ll hopefully land a spot in Ontario and I’ll be 12 miles from home

CNUSD has a good school district. I have a senior and sophomore at Eleanor Roosevelt HS. If your kids are into the science they just opened a brand new STEM building that rivals most colleges. I currently live in Eastvale a bedroom community that has about 70,000 people that borders Norco, Corona and Ontario take a look at Norco Hills, Ontario Ranch and anything in Corona south of the 91 west of the 15.

FYI... live in CA for a year and you’ll really start to dislike this place. HB isn’t really that nice unless you’re into crowds.

but if you must! I’d stretch the budget a bit and try to land in Yorba Linda.... or Norco area. corona does have some nice areas in the eagle glen & dos Lagos area. East vale and Ontario ranch area have some nice tract communities as well... small lots / no RV parking but lots of parks, youth sports etc clean developments.

100%. Corona isn’t close to the beach, nor is Claremont. $1MM isn’t going to get a 5 bedroom and a pool anywhere remotely close to the beach so I’d just look in Claremont, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga so the wife doesn’t have to drive.

If your moving to California and it’s beyond 1980 you’re too late to the party. I would never move back to this ever increasing liberal shithole again. Crime. Traffic. Taxes. Cost of living. Schools suck. There is nothing attractive to California anymore. We work so they don’t have too….

What city did you live in when you were in CA. 🤔 I wouldn't move back to the city I was born and raised in CA. But I'm not leaving Yorba Linda. Great place to live. 👍

Born in Diamond Bar. Moved to Alta Loma in 1984. Still here and I’ve seen the decline the last 53 years of my life. When I’m required to retire in 12 years I’ll leave SoCal behind and not miss one bit the riff raff and crowds and traffic and taxes and politics and crime and lines. I fly all over the country and the world. Every time I come back and I drive home I ask myself why I still live here? (CA)

I thought Alta Loma was a nice area 🤷‍♂️ . @rivermobster is on that side of town. Where will you move to when you retire? I have had a house in Havasu for over 35 years. I thought I would retire there. But, like you in Alta Loma I have seen to many changes over the years and I ask myself why I still have a 2nd home there.

I get it. If you’re a liberal Democrat Socal is paradise and Havasu sucks!

Yes...I'm a democrat in So Cal and love where I live. Never said Havasu sucks. Just said it has changed in the last 35 years. Like you said Alta Loma has. ;) 🇺🇸

BTW.. You didn't say where you're moving when you retire?

I lived in Yoruba Linda back when the corner of Fairmont and YLB was a 4 way stop.
We left in 83ish, and I know people that stayed. Only know one left today.
I’ve wondered a couple times what keeps you there?
I sure couldn’t fault you for reconsidering retiring to Havasu. Too F’n hot!

You happen to know if Wings Chinese food is still operating down YLB a ways? That place kicked ass.

That's funny! But...

I know a few other long time Havasu residents that are bailing out too.

Where do you think all these for sale listing are coming from? Not all are new construction.

Everyone likes what they like! 👍

Hey BOOZER,

I would buy west of the 15fwy no matter what if you'd like to move to N. OC I can possibly get you're the application pushed through being that your a RDP member might help, I will also be able to show you personally where all the Brewery's are in the area. 😁

Hook you up with a realtor and find what your looking for without a HOA, there are still some fixers that come up on the market a ranch style homes on a +1/2 ac.

I lived in and grew up in HB and moved away 20yrs ago it's sofaking crowded you can keep it, it takes 20+min to get to the fwy and a ton of low income high density housing that's been built over the years, the city whores sold out for tax revenue and ruined HB. 🤬

I loved living in corona. Great schools if you are in the right area.

You want to be south of ontario between lincoln and the freeway imho.

Norco is a good option if you can find the right area/neighborhood. I just wouldn't want to live in an area where half of the houses are old junk piles.

Honestly at this pointy i would probably consider renting for a while and see what happens with RE in the next 2 years.

I think Yorba Linda could really use racial diversity....... you know, get some equality in there. Lots of open space for some low income housing. I'm surprised you like it so much.

Yorba Linda Demographics
According to the most recent ACS, the racial composition of Yorba Linda was:

  • White: 72.24%
  • Asian: 20.71%
  • Two or more races: 3.93%
  • Other race: 1.52%
  • Black or African American: 1.37%
  • Native American: 0.12%
  • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander: 0.11%

Why are you surprised, aren't the Democrats the original racists?

It just cracks me up that most well-to-do "democrats" love to live in conservative areas.... I wonder why it's such a nice place to live lol

"As of February 2020, the California Secretary of State reported that Yorba Linda had 43,989 registered voters; of those, 10,413 (23.67%) are registered Democrats, 22,025 (50.07%) are registered Republicans, and 9,604 (21.83%) have stated no political party preference."

It’s currently 1,041 miles to get from my driveway to Huntington Beach Pier. If I lived in Corona I’d shave about 1,020 miles off that trip. Claremont has a great Master of Divinity program, one of the best in the country from what I’m hearing.

What about BIOLA ? I have a few friends that got their MDIV there. You might not get all your boxes checked for 1 million but you could check out fullerton/brea/ and live OC and be very close to campus.

The so cal freeways will make you insane.

Ha Ha. When my housing tract was built in the 80's they had to build low impact housing in the next housing track over. They even have a large lot for RV parking. 😂

.I've lived in my house for over 20 years and have a had a few neighbors move in and out of the neighborhood. Not once has anyone ever mentioned if they were a (D) or a (R). Didn't think it really mattered. 🤷‍♂️ 🤔 🇺🇸

we were on the other side of the golf course from you, down the hill from an area know today as East Lake.
We used to ride mini bikes up there.

My mom and dad bought in 73/4ish, our horses didn’t like it much but yes most of the roads were paved😎

I’m not saying those numbers are wrong? But there were more Hispanic people than Asians when I went to school there.
My street had almost everything, but blacks🤷‍♂️
Japanese/white mixed, Dutch Indonesian, Mexican, Polocks, Korean, fairly diverse.

First car I ever drove I was 13 or 14, was a primer red 64 Impala, White Walls, wire wheels, dingle balls, chrome chain steering wheel... full on low rider. Neighbors name was Fernando, he was about 4 years older than me. 🤷‍♂️
Been called a white boy all my life😎

I couldn’t live in corona no way! Just dropping down the 15 into the 91 you can see how shitty the air quality is! I left Huntington Beach 11yrs ago to start a family and Corona was taken off the list pretty fast.

Lol....seems to be much hotter and shittier air quality along the foothills up near the Claremont and Rancho areas these guys are talking about.....then you get the wind tunnel in the Eastvale area. I'm South of the 91 in Corona. Near Main and Ontario. No complaints here with the air. We get a nice lil breeze daily from OC over the hill. Perfect lil breeze right now as I type. Those same hills keep that marine layer in check in June too. Usually nice and clear here, and overcast when I drive to and from OC to work on the other side.

Really? It’s pretty easy to tell all my neighbors are Republicans by the trump flags and the Biden flags. Politics has come up at several of the neighborhood parties
