I’m currently in SoCal due to my wife graduating from Cal Baptist University. My wife and kids are having the time of their life and now my wife is looking at a Masters program in Claremont. Needless to say we’re considering moving back to California.

I’ve been looking online and Corona seems to be the ideal location for us based on what you get for the money. It’s close to family and an easy commute to the beach as well. It also doesn’t hurt that you seem to get more for your money in Corona than where we live in Colorado, it’s a bit shocking to be honest.

With that being said, I’m curious about what parts of town to avoid and what parts to make a focus area? We have kids so schools are important. We’ll most likely put our kids in private school but we’d like to have the option of good public schools available to us.

I work from home so commuting is not a concern of mine.

Busy busy busy.
It looks and feels nothing like the Corona of yesteryear. They’re making it look more and more like Irvine al the time.
We lived there in the early/mid 90s and every time I go there now I hate the place.

Norco might be a better fit? But getting busy too.
You should come out and target a few places in the morning and afternoon on work days. Try to mimic your future commute.
The I-15 corridor from Corona south gets pretty congested as does pretty much the entirety of 91 fwy. 15 North contests too up to Glen Helen most days, all the way up the hill on Fridays and snow days.

If you wanted to live with a little more space between you and your neighbors consider Lake Mathews (unfortunately no boating on that lake😡)or Gavin hill, or Woodcrest, or some of the unincorporated areas between the 3 in the hills above. Property taxes will be cheaper as a bonus.

Avoid Perris/Mead Valley, it’s a bit sketchy.

Buy something for $1M in Upland instead. Way closer to Claremont (next door).

The 15/91 through Corona to East OC sucks. Tolls will gouge you if you have to get anywhere when there is traffic.

Why not Claremont? Schools are rated very high and area is built out and plenty of shopping and dining options. May homes available in that price range near hiking/biking trails and parks.

Are you looking for a tract type community? Or some extra space?

I would love to live in Upland or Claremont but I’d need to up my budget 300-400K for what we’re looking for. 5+ Bedrooms 3 car garage and a pool.

Stay east of Border ave, south of Ontario blvd if you’re dead set on corona. Corona hills is nice on the hidden valley side but kinda meh around cresta verde gc. I’d personally look in Norco around @BHC Vic

I agree with this except for the few communities near Green River Road closest to the 91. There's actually a new neighborhood off Green River between Paseo Grande and Serfas. I live right near Green River and Ridgeline.

Norco can be awesome but you have the random trash houses with enough property to hoard. Just need to drive around the neighborhood a few times.

The idea of just living in Claremont isn’t bad from a commute point of view. Downside is it’s LA county.
Upland, also not as bad commute but is San Bernardino county.
Corona is Riverside County.
If it means anything at all to you our County Sheriff is CCW friendly, theirs are not nearly😉

I live in norco in an area called the bluffs. For 1million you could get everything you want with 1/2 acre or more. My house is 5 bedrooms but I think it’s the biggest model in my area. My area was built by a bunch of different contractors so they are all a little different. I’ll post some Zillow links

Doable, lots of 5 bed homes with pool in that range, North of Baseline between Padua and Towne or Mountain. They do get snapped up quick. Good luck on the search where ever you end up.

They don’t have Universities in Colorado? 😂 I would never bring my children back to California. You might wanna check out what they are teaching them in schools these days. (When they allow them to go to school that is) Tell momma to find a different school and call it good!

@Wedgy post from the KLOS thread.

I do not at all miss the commute from Escondido up to El Monte on Monday mornings. Bad radio is not easy listening.
Crest the hill into Corona at 5:15, the ramp to 91 West is a solid red line in the dark sky. 15, 91/71, didn't matter. The 10 West is a solid stop and you'd better pay attention. In 2000.

Last year going down the hill into El Cajon on the 8 from Harbison Canyon last year on a Monday at dawn was interesting too. The Dawn Patrol. Glad thos

Budget of 1 million. Let sink in a few minutes.
10 years ago corona was 300000 for the same house.
All those areas have traffic, so be prepared
100% I bought my first home in corona of McKinley off the 91. McKinley and Indiana to be exact and I paid 250k for a very nice homie. It’s pretty crazy

I was just looking at that one. I’m a huge fan of the area across the river bed on archibald and river. A bunch of huge properties with custom homes

No way, your place is pristine compared to some houses around there. I swear some people bought properties there just to store a bunch of beat up trailers, RVs, and vehicles.

Just stay south of Ontario Avenue to be safe. From there you have a very mixed bag of developments depending on the density and budget you have. Schools are great in this area.

Around $1M.

1M could get you alot in Corona. Shit too bad it wasn't a couple of years ago. Still stuff to be had. On the same note....there are some places that are in that range in Corona, and you're like wtf?
Personally...I like South of the 91....West of the 15. The newer homes are South of Ontario Ave. Get South above Foothill and Upper....there are some nice big properties up there. And pretty quiet.

Corona back in the late 70's early 80's (91 & McKinley) we use to ride our dirt bikes, go 4 wheeling and fly our hang gliders there. Then some land developing genius's decided to build houses and ruined the place forever. On a positive note they do have a Car's & Coffee (next to IHOP) that brings out some nice rides every Saturday morning...

It’s currently 1,041 miles to get from my driveway to Huntington Beach Pier. If I lived in Corona I’d shave about 1,020 miles off that trip. Claremont has a great Master of Divinity program, one of the best in the country from what I’m hearing.

The other reason is family. My in laws moved away last month, my parents are leaving Colorado in the next few months, and my father is moving back to Chino to take care of my grand mother. All of our family has left Colorado. We’re now going to be stuck on an island in a place I’ve never liked living in.

Ha Ha. My office is in La Habra. 35 years. On Lambert between Beach and Idaho. A few that work there have grown up in LH and haven’t left. :p
Both my parents grew up there and my dad still lives there. My grandpa owned a window tinting shop for 35 years off Whittier Blvd by Beach blvd. Great memories there.

With that budget...

I'd return back to HB,...
HB, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa...

near the beach... you'll be traveling against the majority of the traffic...

This information is from a HB local.. who moved to Corona wanting the NEW home... been here since 1987... raised my family....

All my kids went to Christian schools until HS age....
Good luck..

Sounds like BHC Vic lives very close to me. I'm in the very north west corner of Corona bordering Norco. We generally go to Norco restaurants etc. I've lived here 4 years coming from OC. I was very reluctant to move here but now would never go back to OC.

We've already decided if we move out of our current home the areas we would be buying is in the Bluffs or Norco Hills.

I’d love to be in HB. It’s my favorite place on the planet. Unfortunately, my budget won’t get me a place big enough for 5 kids in HB. I’d need to bump it up another million and that’s not an option.

You would never know it but there used to be a drive-in theater at 3rd & Hamner. Probably only 6 or 8 stop signs going north down Main St. from Ontario Ave. all the way out to 6th in Norco. Good Lord how Norco has changed. I dont think they had a high school until 1966.

Where in CO are you looking to leave if you don't mine me asking. I'm planning on retiring there in the next 7-10 yrs. Looking at buying/building something in Montrose/Grand Junction area the next couple yrs so curious as to where in CO you are that you're tired of.

Crest drive-in!

What about Corona Raceway!

We moved from Bellflower to Norco in 1970. Wifey and I were just talking about this. You had limited fast-food choices in Norco back then...Tastee Freeze, Scotty's Fish Fry and Carl Jr. You had to drive down into Corona to Jack in the Box.

The Security Pacific bank robbery...wild.
