No, its a little different, it was a hull from Rayson Craft (laid up by Rayson Craft) that sat for a bit and is getting finished off now.

I have never seen a good running Rayson Craft, they look and sound awesome. A long-time lake friend actually collects them and they all hop, porpoised really badly, and never take a good set with stock or moderate power even in really calm water. Another friend of my Dad’s was actually a Rayson Craft dealer back in the 70’s and his personal boat porpoised badly too and threw him up under the bow one time. Between the two of them I’ve seen 6-7 Rayson Craft over the years and I feel this is a big enough sample size to base my opinions on.

I will also say clearly Rayson Crafts reputation came from somewhere so I’m sure there are boats out there that run well I just haven’t seen them.

I’ve told both of them several times me and my Schiada will line up with any one of Rudy’s boats they have and they have yet to take me up on my offer 😊

Just a shot in the dark here, but these Rayson crafts you’re talking about were they flatbottoms and were they low power? 😳

When you say line up against your Schiada what exactly do you mean?

Jerry I need my coffee cup!!!
These emojis today are just like the snowflakes that made them... no heart, no soul!

I'm assuming he means at a boat show, on the trailer....

I mean thats where I see most of the schiadas :)

Pretty sure he wasnt trying to call out Lightfoot or Dan Bell hah, not trying to hurt any feelings
Lol. Yeah that Addictions boat is Sloww. Doug gave me a ride in the previous Rayson Craft. That was fast enough for Me. I would pass if he told me to get in the current 1.

There are few others that haul ass out there as well.

The yellow one had a pretty strong motor back in it's day. Now they are all 400-600 ish. The yellow one in the background on the lift took the best set under power by far.

Well GN boats make good ski racing boats and that's the intent with this one. Richard Lee twin turbo EFI (est HP 1200), huber trans and #6 drive, with big tabs, and a ballast tank. Should do fine, maybe even give a Schiada a run for its money (assuming they can get the Schiada off the trailer).

OK! Let the bench racing begin! How fast is your Schiada? I have an old Rayson craft most likely under powered by todays standards that goes 158.6 MPH!
Can you beat that?
when did it fall out of a c-130? ha ha

or what year f-150 was it hitched to? :)

or how fast was niagra falls running when that 80 mph tail wind carried it over?

all i can really say is that this reminds me of Rudy, Grich, Grier, (feel free to add names here) telling stories that all started out with... : "I remember this one time at"___insert race site/ year_______...... and in the middle was....something like "the waves were so big and we were going so fast"...... and then typically ended with some thing along the lines of........ "that the tops of the telephone poles going by were just a blur....

i miss those guys. some (most) of the stories were absolutely epic.

i am sure that the GN group isnt the only crowd that lay claim to some recollections of enhanced memories.

maybe we should start a thread of the most epic.
river
drag boat
circle boat
enduro
road trip
story you were ever TOLD.

I guess the shiny transom Schiada had a change of heart. Kind of disappointing for us sideliners. 🙂

My money would have been on you Maximus. You have one bad ass Rayson!

Good Lord I meant I would race my neighbors boats. There's plenty of boats that will outrun mine and yours may very well be one of them.

As far as how fast mine is it runs 279.4323, if you don't believe me come find out.

Hopefully this is an entertaining enough comment for the bench racers/ sideliners

For you to achieve that speed you would need the Schiada RT :)

Talk about jumping the shark... Schiadas are fast but not 279.4323 mph fast? SKIA36 goes like 173.28 and I think he is still the fastest ever recoreded here are the RD forums... Of course he is a closet cross dresser but I don't judge...

What is the history of Rayson Craft ?

Rudy owned them back in the day and the molds were sold to someone who will pop one out new every now and again now?

I’ve seen some newer boats made Rayson Craft but I thought they went out of business quite a bit ago?

Are you trying to pollute this fine thread with real substance? I guess we can try that. 😳

Rayson Craft was the premier v-drive boat builder in the late 50's and early 60's. Also built a lot of outboards back in the day. Rudy loved marathon racing and imo was the most successful and influential builder of GN racing hulls. It would take all day to list his accomplishments. A true Icon of the boat building and racing world.

A family friend from Lake Arrowhead, Mike Wallace and Bill Cooper teamed up and won the Parker 9 Hour in the 'Tiny Tim' Rayson-Craft in both '64 and '66.
First ever ride in a flat bottom-Vdrive as a kid was in one of the earlier 'Tiny Tim's' when Mike's dad Tim Wallace lit up my young world 😘(A ride my dad never heard the end of and I think regretted arranging it 🤣)
Once I got my drivers license I ran parts for Mike down the hill to Louie Unsers shop in Santa Ana, yet another amazing treat.

I've got the magazine write up on that somewhere. Wallace was one of the big shots back then! 👍

Oh for sure, if you run across that write up, I'd enjoy reading it.
And yet, you'd have never otherwise have known it, genuinely nice, hardworking folks. The Wallace's had an equipment rental company in Anaheim.
Last time I watched Mike race was the '68 Lake Elsinore 500, but he suffered a mechanical failure lap 43.
Then my life took off in a whirlwind and years later up at Arrowhead when we last met.
