Rumor has it that the old Freedom boat owned by the Chanlders then Corey was one of the best handling and one of the fastest
also Howard Haig had a real fast one also was told 120. Face it there all very fine boats.

Freedom boat. You are right about the handling. She don't get out much.

Has Gary driven your boat since you put the longer plates on it? I remember him saying you have a whole bunch of power.

No, when Gary drove it I had the shorter plates on it. It was fun to be in my boat with Gary driving it. he had a big smile the whole time he was driving. good time for sure. thanks Jim

Freedom was one of the fastest boats in the day. Howard's first boat the one FrznJim has was the faster of the 2...neither ran close to 120 they were just a shade over 100...they were carbureted and made a bit over 1000hp.

My boat was rigged using all of the dimensions from Freedom with the exception of long plates and external rudder. Mine has just over 1300hp and the fastest I have seen is 113 mph. Meads boat is a legitimate 120+ according to Lee and Carson. The only Schiada that might be faster is Alexis or Jon Roth's as his engine is set up to run race gas only and dyno'd out at over 1700 hp but it had some handling issues. Meads boat is dialed!

John,

FYI Glenn 420HOA has the one I had. He bought it in 2014, now racing it as Bloodshot 420.

out of curiosity, what does it take to maintain an engine like this? if someone were to use the boat as a cruiser and never really push on it hard for too long, do these engines just need typical performance engine maintenance?

This boat is stunning and intimidating all at the same time, which in my book equals, badass!

Still an awesome looking boat. You can see how far forward the engines sit and how far back the seats are and how long the steering columns are...

Thanks man! It looks like your engine sits a little further back than mine and your seats a bit more forward. Could just be the pictures though. Your boat is super clean. I dig it!

My 5cents........They are all as fast as you put the effort into them. One must realize that it takes test after test after test to get the handling, prop, shaft length, etc etc correct. My suggestion is to work In safe increments and work your way up.
I've been around a few Schiadas and have been blessed to drive several of them. They are EACH very different including ones I have owned and attempted to duplicate. Either way, they are all decent up to about 88-90 then after that very few are perfect from 90-105 unless time spent etc. And I can't count on my right hand with my middle finger up how many are drivable above that! Safe and sustained. WITH THIS SAID, most can be set to do well their assuming the basic rigging, strut angle , rudder placement is in order. Unfortunately very few are. The boat needs to be built a certain way for 80-100 and above mph. Some of these boats will just flat run into a wall based on rigging design. If you study the truley known good runners, you may pickup on a few key things, or just buy me a beer[emoji85][emoji106]🏻

Well said Alexi. It was a process for us to get our boat dialed in as well. What an amazing difference just a prop or tab length makes. Anyway--Thanks We always enjoy seeing your red Schiada zoom bye early in the morning at Lake Nacimiento. Its like music to our ears. That thing has such a unique sound and is so rock solid. Did you install a train track under that? lol

[emoji106]🏻yes. You know getting a setup perfect takes time and a strong mindset. Heck, you've been through it! But it's like a good tuned engine " once it's done it's done!"
Yes, I usually go out early in the morning with my daughter or son and go to the marina for coffee. My daughter who you met is driving a lot more now and loving it. My boy is about 2 months away from reaching the pedals so he drives the outboard. The water level seems ok but I'm sure they are lowering the lake level expecting the Super El Ni?o[emoji16]. Come over when your back in town[emoji106]🏻[emoji106]🏻[emoji106]🏻

I remembered that after I posted it but got sidetracked and didn't edit the post...thanks for the clarification.

I think you're right about the engine and the only thing I can think of is that I have longer plates so they were able to move it back. My steering column is 19" Do you know what yours is? I'm guessing everything is about 6" or so off being that is the difference in the length of plates.

16" to the back of steering wheel. Engine is 30" forward.

So if you sling the little 21' s with scales it will teach you alot! We're the CG (Center of gravity) is located fueled, ballasted etc. Makes a huge difference at speeds. Also, their is a specific math between that , strut angle , prop rake, prop thrust point and plate configuration! It is true mechanical science every time. Anyway that CG deal is interesting and I mentioned it because of you mentioning the long steering column, which moves the driver closer to the engine and changes the CG on one side of the boat. It's actually a diagonal line on a scale as to the effects overall to the passenger side hence effecting plate setup. O /and DIET MATTERS TOO[emoji38]
