I have a buddy looking at a schiada whaler right now and I seem to recall the boat belonging to a member here. Looking for more info on the boat.

Bad ass whaler! I don’t remember who it belonged too though.

Wish I was in a position to buy!

That boat doesn’t have a Schiada vin, I’m pretty sure it was totaled and brought back to life. Not 100% sure what the story was. It was rotted out when it popped up for sale a couple years ago. Needed stringers and floor. It’s a Vdrive with a walk through dash instead of a center console. I think it has a lot of potential. It needs some love though. Or did. I think it was in the water at Arrowhead for a long time, probably why it was rotted out.

Interesting bit on the HIN, I read that and just assumed it was maybe done in someone else’s shop or something way back when.

Sounds like something you’d want to be ultra careful of inspecting.

The boat was at my shop a year ago or so needs a lot of work it was in arrowhead. That’s not a schiada vin at all . That’s pretty fishy would like to know the story behind the vin change 😬

I just got off the phone with my buddy. Story he was given was that the boat was an arrowhead boat originally for spindlers wife, it had changed hands a few times and that is believed to be when the hin was changed. I thought schiada had "SDA" perfix.

Either way there is potential in the boat for the right person, as of now it needs full rigging as everything is out of the boat. Floors were just done, motor is a fresh 700hp big block and supposedly the v drive is out for refresh. The boat was offered to my buddy at 30k from the owners family. Apparently the owner recently passed.

That’s not the vin we use. You can tel it was changed. I would have your friend get in touch with Lee and have them bring the boat by are shop and we can tell him what the boat needs. I have seen to many of these deals . Then your into the boat way to much after you get it. Text lee at 1 (818) 448-9788 or email him at [email protected]

Almost looks like a 22’? Nice Trailer! Too many fishy things about it, I’d pass.

I have a Schiada whaler v-drive but it's not for sale. Great boat and all the Schiada whalers are 22 footers. And yes the hin numbers start with sda.

I have seen and had a few boats where they stamped the HIN upside down!(Race boat humor!)

The HIN is a big DYMO tape. If you look closely (as stated above) it is backwards. The funny thing is that to the person who stuck it on the mold it was perfectly clear and legible. Obviously it was a mistake it looks to be a 1982 Schiada "BR" Bow Rider. The comment earlier about Spindler's wife is probably wrong. I believe It was built for Leonard Schiada's wife after he passed away.

A few years ago I talked to owner about it and story was it was Leonard’s wife’s. Designed and built for her.
