With all the interest in getting these Schiada flatties going was curious to know where your engine placement is, are they set in the ski position closer to the transom ??, or have they been moved forward for say drag or circle race position, just a curiosity question.

We moved ours forward based on the information provided by Phil Bergeron who was very familiar with setting these up in the day to go fast.
The engine placement is very similar to that of a Bisemeyer in dimension from the transom.

Thanks, Scott

"Schiada Flatty" asked about engine placement, but where do we measure from? transom to? And same question about v-drive.

Steve Harper is who you guys want to ask. "ski harper" is his name on here. :thumbsup

I think he might have Leonard's original measurements for the flattys.

If my boat was rigged by schiada the engine is in the proper place. What I was wondering was what point on the engine do you measure from or is there a standard point people we should be measuring from?

That depends if it was set up as a ski boat or a race boat.
All measurements should be from the transom foward. I have a good circle boat set up, but I don't know how it works with a flywheel forward set up.

To what point? I was just trying post the transom to engine dimension while keeping it relative by measuring from the same points everyone else does.

the rear engine mount is good, and the v-drive mid plate. and under the boat to the back end of the strut barrel. the front edge of the fin goes under the mid plate of the v-drive.

My SS 201 Schiada was a race circle boat, the back of the engine block was 32 inches from the transom.
