My daughter has a friend who's father was found murdered in Moreno Valley today. I don't know all the details but over the weekend the police came to his house and told them (he, his brother, and mom) that they found his car abandoned on the freeway. They then went to his apartment and it had been ransacked. Then the kid (we'll call him Brent) gets a call demanding 2 million dollars for the release of his father, they also asked for Brent's uncles address and number which he didn't give him. They did threaten to kill the uncle and little brother too. They hung up before a trace could be made but then had the father call back and tell Brent to do what they say so he did. They did find out that the phone that was called from was one of those prepaid cell phones. Today they found him murdered in Moreno Valley. Now the rest of the family is under police protection and they moved them all away.
I don't have any more details so don't ask about drugs, gangs, Mexican Mafia....etc. OK, maybe a little like the father and mother are either recently divorced or going thru one and he is from Mexico......now that's all I know. This is just very scary and sad. Brent is a very nice kid.

Sad, sad, sad.

Ali, my gut tells me that this is a deep mess; the protection thing you spoke of does not happen unless things are very, very dicey. Daughter might be wise to break off face-to-face contact with the whole clan until this sorts out.
But maybe I am paranoid.

Big clue a dad with an off site apartment? Something is really wrong. Maybe a bad marriage?

No, I totally agree with you. They are far far away right now anyway. She doesn't seem crushed, only feels bad for Brent. The protection thing is scary but I guess the kidnapping, threats, etc. would make it a must. I would be more bothered if they didn't have them protected and moved away.

That's some scary shiat. I'd make sure your daughter stays the hell away from her friend. Last thing you want is her to be at the wrong place at the wrong time (I know you know this). Sad story for all involved. :(

Well seeing that the rest of the family are in police protection and well away from the area, I don't think that will be a problem. She Hasn't talked to him at all.

Arrest was made.

What they don't tell you is how he knew these people. He had been separated from his wife (going through a divorce) He had a girlfriend in Mexico. The girlfriend who he only saw when he went down there also had another boyfriend. She, her other boyfriend, and her brother thought Orlando had alot of money and wanted it so that is how this all happened. I'm glad they caught them and hope all three fry.

Right out of a movie, but with real people, real death.....Once again the open border claims the life of an American citizen at the hands of at least one illegal invader.. So now we're going to get to support these lowlifes in prison. Mexico seldom ships the bad guys back if the death penalty is a possibility, so life without parole at our expense, again......Sad for the family of what appears to be an upstanding member of society.........MP
