I know the feeling of impending evacuations. I had to evacuate Oct 31st 2003, from the 'Old Fire' down Hwy 38 to Mentone. Crewcab, Jeep and jet bote all hooked up for the ride down the hill.
Good luck for those that are evacuating the Bear Valley area.

From the watch duty app looks like it’s spotting into RS now. :( Sure hope it’s not as bad as it looks.

Most likely firing operations to back up the dozer lines or hand crew lines.
I now heard it might be crews back burning in RS getting the brush cleared between the neighborhoods and houses trying to remove the fuels that would lead it into RS. If that’s the case, yea to them for being proactive about it in a controlled manner.

Seems the watch duty app just shows the heat blooms but they don’t provide status updates of that kind of work.

The upper burn area is 100% a firing operation, backed up by existing roads that were probably reinforced with dozer and hand crew work.

Yeah pretty smoky on our ring cameras at the Springs.

If they’d drop this evacuation warning I’d split to Havasu for a weekend to unwind from the stress.

The line fire is still creeping towards the west end of Big Bear but doesn’t seem to be getting to anything populated. Almost 50% contained so far.

Hopefully they can get it out while the weather is cooperating this week because the heat is coming back this weekend.

Pretty sure that is an unrelated incident. There's been a missing guy for the last three years. Remains were found near where he was last seen.
fuck Jed-o, I hope it ain’t Charlie Brynn! Haven’t seen that dude in a long time!
