Salt water pool VS Chlorine

A salt water pool is a chlorine pool.

You just make the chlorine at the cell by cracking sodium hypochloride from the salt water instead of going to buy it at a pool store and dumping it in.

This pushes the pool towards base and you'll have to constantly add acid - unless you install and acid pump.

The cell requires maintenance, and has a finite life - this is made worse by seasonal hard water in LA delivered from the colorado system.

You aren't skipping the shopping either way - you have to go to the pool store to buy acid instead of bleach anyway (although in smaller amounts)

Salt water stains some surfaces, and corrodes metals nearby.



I went back to just buying chlorine.
